Just to let you know I like to travel and I am one hell of a cook. I love delicious food and I can’t stand fake reviews. My girlfriend and I were walking down by the train station and took a peek inside. Most restaurants try really hard to hustle you to get you inside and this one wasn’t that bad. First of all we’ve eaten at a few restaurants in Machu Picchu and the ambience here was probably the nicest that we had been to. First we ordered cocktails, the La Gringasha was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it, made with lemon, apple liquor, Orange juice and tonic water. It was so good we both ordered two rounds. The appetizer was the Huancaina Potato Festival, split baby roasted potatoes with an incredible yellow puréed sauce made with puréed blend of queso fresco and sautéed or grilled ají amarillo, red onion and garlic. It was a very mild sauce with an incredible flavor. I ordered for the main course the Pork Crackling Chicharrón, delicious deep-fried pork belly with a very flavorful side sauce made from Uchucita chilies and what tasted like mint. Very delicious. I was surprised that my girlfriend ordered the Chicken Diet soup, it looked very simple but once I tasted a spoonful it was really refreshing and flavorful with a hint of ginger. Was actually probably one of the best chicken soups have ever had. The service was wonderful and we enjoyed it so much especially when a Peruvian three-piece band came in and started playing music. This was our lunch and we decided to come back for dinner tonight. Don’t miss this place it’s...
Read moreFull House is a pretty solid choice to eat at while you’re in Aguas Calientes. We came around 12pm after being at Machu Picchu. We were allowed to pick where we wanted to eat so we picked a prime spot right next to the open windows which had a beautiful view of the river and mountain. I had the lemon grilled trout (trucha aroma) with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies, which had good flavor and was just the right amount of food to have dessert with. For once I was able to get a passion fruit cheesecake (for the whole of my Peru trip I was disappointed by at least 3 restaurants not having a similar dessert available tho it was on the menu). The rest of my party got the andean soup (sopa andina), chicharron cerdo, and fettucine al pesto. It seemed like all the dishes were solid, nothing extravagant/spectacular in the display or taste but they hit the spot and were just as expected. Environment was overall quite chill: we weren’t rushed out and waiters were available if we ever needed something (like the check). The restroom was also very clean/nice. Prices were on the average/higher end for a touristy spot (~$11 usd/45s per entree)....
Read moreI came for lunch and was very happy that they had a whole vegan and vegetarian menu page. They even had little menu markers indicating what was vegan and what was vegetarian. I ordered the “vegan gnocchi”, which had vegan in the name and also had a vegan marker next to it. I double checked when ordering that it was vegan, specifically no dairy. The waiter yes it’s vegan. When i received the food I immediately knew the white sauce and gnocchi were NOT vegan. I again asked the server if there was milk in it and he said no. We asked again a third about what was in it and he said the gnocchi is made with eggs and white sauce did indeed have milk.
Very disappointed. Thank goodness i’m not allergic to anything but if you have strict food diets or allergies, DO NOT EAT HERE.
I asked multiple times and was ensured that what i ordered was vegan, until finally they told me it was not.
We told the waiter to adjust the menu accordingly, but as most guests of the restaurant are just passing through, I assume there won’t be much attention to the...
