After reading latest reviews I wasn't sure what to expect. However I wanted to give this place a try as It looked appealing from the outside.
Selection: Good assortment of bread (baguette, bagel brioche) pastries (12 varieties) cakes , sandwiches and pizza. Also a brunch menu that looked good. All coffee types. Very interesting offer of medicinal teas, not the usual boring ones.
Quality/ Freshness: I tried the bagel with cream cheese and ham (22 soles) and It was tasty and of a decent size. Tried their danish pastry (8 soles) with apricot and wasn't impressed. I was told it's fresh but the dough tasted like from yesterday, the cream had a strange aquired taste and fruits didn't taste good. Americano coffee with milk (10 soles) was not very good, mostly foam, and served lukewarm, quite bitter, needed lots of sugar. There is definately better coffee around...beware of places that charge double this price though, very abusive. So considering the offer the coffee here is within the acceptable. They serve sugar upon request, I would suggest have It on the table, saves staff time and your coffee doesn't get cold.
Prices: Generally expensive for peruvian standarts, yet in comparison with other places in town a better price-quality relation.
Ambience: Quieter then other places, located on a side street so less crowds of people walking by. Music was horrible, disco type, on a continuos loop and with constant interruption (local radio station) It totally spoiled the ambience. For the prices they charge they should invest in a Spotify account with nice playlist. There is building works on the corner of street, It got very noisy at some point. The decoration is cute, french bakery style, comfy chairs.
Service: The peruvian staff needs to be trained in basic costumer service. They don't smile and there is hardly eye contact which is very uninviting and cold. A guy working in the kitchen came out to greet Friends and give recommendations, he should be at the front of customer service, friendly, smiling, happy vibe. In 5 seconds he totally made up for the lack of motivation of the rest of staff Also the staff should be better informed about ingredients. I asked if the ham for the bagel was raw (serrano type) or cooked and she seemed lost but then confirmes It was raw just because she sensed I'd prefer that. It was cooked ham, also the arugula was actually just common lettuce. I still ate It because I was hungry but It was disappointing the waitress did not brother to ask the kitchen if unsure. The waiting staff a bit slow, but after 9am and some disco music to wake them Up they managed to speed up. Kitchen staff was quick to deliver the orders. An older guy came out to assist the two Young waiters when It got busy, he seemed to be the owner. Not sure why only one of the three wore a cover for hair, there seem to be no regulation as to their uniform and hygene standarts, as all three were manipulating food.
Alltogether not a bad choice in busy Macchu Picchu if you adjust your expectations to a place and it's people that are worn out by the drill of mass tourism and has lost authenticity and true passion for hospitality. Come as early as posible for a better experienced, It gets busy and noisy later, both...
Read moreThe only reason I would come back here is to buy sourdough bread, because this is the only place I have found in all of Aguas Calientes to serve and sell sourdough bread.
All their pizzas are also made with sourdough pizza crust!
However the food was very bland. The hummus was watery, the eggs tasted and looked like they came straight from a matrix program of some sort. The pizza was also very bland.
The pictures on the menu did not match the real life experience.
This is a much cheaper option for eating out. Most places are 50-100 soles per dish, this one is 20-50.
This was the hummus and avocado plate (20 soles) and the vegan pizza (40 soles)
The atmosphere gets 2 stars because it had fast food furniture and vibes. Not very cozy.
Service was kind, friendly and attentive. No...
Read moreWe only ate here during our stay in Aguascalientes bc of their tasty vegan options! The vegano and green (no pesto) sandwiches were delicious and very generous portions. Made on fresh focaccia really puts them over the top delicious. We had the vegan pizza the following day and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve never had avocado in pizza but I really enjoyed it! Their pizza dough was great! They also have almond and soy milk options for coffee in addition to decaf coffee is which was a nice afternoon treat for me. Their pastries looked heavenly unfortunately there were no vegan options for pastries, I would done almost anything for any of their...
