So I needed a place with internet fast enough to VPN for work, and after looking around I found this place. I walked in one morning and was greeted by friendly staff and given a tour... then I left and came back in the evening because I had errands to do.
When I came back, Ace greeted me and I set up shop, knocking out what work I had to get done. Everything is as advertised.
Pros: Fast internet - enough to RDP/VPN/whatever you need. Nice space - apparently it used to be a house (according to my family, it had quite the history). It's been prepped up with some hipster-y design. Unlimited Coffee 24 Hour access Next to food (and not far from a Church so you can pray for your builds to pass)
Cons: Supplies (cups, toilet paper) aren't re-stocked often (aka first world problems) Website could use some work ("choosing" a plan just refreshes the page, hitting the plus sign shows a Co-working space in paris with the wrong hours) - looks pretty though.
Other notes: 500P/24 Hours or 5kP/month
If you're looking for a quiet place to be, this may work for you. I don't particularly care because I've got ear buds but it's also a highly collaborative space so there may be talking near you. That said, there are pods in the back (6?) where you can get some isolated time - though make sure you have an ethernet port if you go back there... I couldn't get my macbook to connect to the wifi from one of those units.
I think the last star for me would happen if this place ends up matching up feature-wise with coworking spaces Stateside. Otherwise, it's an excellent space for you or your group if you need fast internet and just a place to be.
I came here during an emergency trip to Baguio but if/when I've got to work remotely again, this will definitely be top of the...
Read moreI discovered Calle Uno during the 2016 typhoon when there was a power outage all over Baguio City that lasted for days. Calle Uno is connected to 2 power grids, have generators, free coffee, and good internet connection. The staff gave me a tour of the place and they are friendly and helpful with my needs. They have computers you can freely use but you can also bring your own laptop/gadgets. During the past few years, the place has improved so much. They now have a food hub that offers good, warm, affordable food. I love love love the ownerâs antique collection and the placeâs vintage vibe because it triggers awesome memories of our old home in Pasig City and loved ones who are dearly missed. It has become my go-to place whenever I experience power or internet issues at home, and I recommend it to all my friends in Manila who want to work remotely and enjoy Baguio after...
