My 2 stars is given only for the cozy look of the place (like Zola) and the food presentation as well which really looked expensive. But the food itself tastes nothing but ordinary. Customer service needs a lot of improvement though. The waiters had to call their supervisor to explain to me when I asked about the food I am about to order. Then when we called one of the waiters to show that we saw a live white small worm in our asian salad which we captured using a spoon, the waiter was startled and just took the spoon away from us. She came back with a new spoon. Wow! Then the supervisor came to our table asking what was our concern. We explained to her what we saw and what the initial reaction of the waiter was. The supervisor only said that she will tell the chef about it. I do not recall that she apologized for what happened. We were waiting for service recovery but none was given. If i may be given a chance to give tips to restaurants, please always appeal to the emotions of your customers who have a valid complaint. Show empathy the whole time. At the very least we were hoping that they will replace the asian salad with a new one or that they will waive the fee for that item but nothing was done. We paid and left immediately as we are not in the mood for any discussion. I would not have given a low rating and bad review if service recovery was done. This happened last night between 10...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend dining here during peak hours. I'm not sure what happened to their staff during the time we were there, but the staffs who served our table were a bit rude. The guy who handed us our drink seemed annoyed (he slammed the pitcher on the table, mixed our drink, and left without saying a word). Also, we had to wait for a long time for our drinks to arrive - note, this would have been understandable because it is peak hours, however, we only ordered one pitcher and the other table who arrived later than us ordered 3 pitchers but their order was served first (it wasn't just one table, other tables that arrived later than us were also served first). And also, when paying our bills we had to follow up because they didn't return our change and they did not look like they...
Read moreUpon entering, the vibe of the whole restaurant is actually pretty cool. However, I did end up walking around for a minute or so looking for my own table. There wasn’t anyone to help out with seating.
It was more of the same when it came to ordering, it took a while for a waiter to take my order and when the food did arrive, it was average. It also took them about 10-15 minutes to serve a side plate of plain toasted bread.
Overall though, looking around, people seemed to be enjoying their meals and chatting away underneath the loud-ish party music blasting on the speakers. It might just be me being hungry or the chill Sunday vibes the servers had - despite all that, I would still like to give Recess another try one day, when I’m not “hangry”...
