Gerry's Cagayan De Oro (Gerry's Grill) — Restaurant in Cagayan de Oro

This review is for the SM Premier location. I was delighted to see Gerry’s grill while at the mall. Having one in Houston where I’m from, I was excited to try this one. Clean place. Staff a little slow to respond considering there’s only 2 tables occupied. For appetizers: crispy kangkong- not crispy, overloaded with flour. Bulalo- salty and tasted like it had bouillon cubes which is disappointing. CDO is the place where I’ve tasted the juiciest, tender meat and so there is no need for bouillon here. So if they use it here, it is disappointing. Kare kare: the tripe and meat is hard/ not cooked long enough to be tender- even with the use of knife - it was hard to slice the meat and tripe. The sauce is very thick. Binagoongan rice: din not taste like binagoongan The tuna belly skin was not crispy and the tuna was over cooked! The only dish we all enjoyed was the pinakbet, grilled pusit and crispy pata. Crispy pata skin was crunchy and meat was juicy and tender. Our server, Pin needed a little bit more customer service. Water not served unless asked and we always had to look for her, considering we are a big group of 14 and there was only 1 other table ( of 4). The place was empty at 3:00 PM. The food is not consistent. We ordered Lechon Kawali and it seems like the meat that was cooked wasn't fresh and the way how it was cooked... it's not good at all. The garlic rice was so greasy to the point that I was having a hard time eating it. Also, my sister and I wondered why, the supervisor always kept on looking to our direction to the point that it was getting so uncomfortable to both of us. He kept on looking to us while we were eating all throughout the meal. It's actually okay to observe the customers but not to the point of staring at them while they were eating and talking. We recently dined at Gerry's Grill in SM Downtown CDO, and the experience was outstanding! Sir Glenn and Sir Victor went above and beyond in providing exceptional service. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure our dining experience was flawless from start to finish. The food was fantastic as always, but the level of care and hospitality we received truly made our visit special. It's rare to find such dedicated staff who genuinely care about their guests, and Sir Glenn and Sir Victor delivered that in spades.
