Solo traveler here. Very safe to walk around day/night. I stayed here for 6 nights and had a room at the very top. It was very quiet and very clean. My room was cleaned and linens change by housekeeping without needing to ask after day 2 or 3. Toilet paper easily available on each floor.
This is very good option to be close to el nido beach as it’s only 2 minutes walking and to just sleep, shower and brush teeth and very budget friendly it’s very good. Many bars, restos, shops, coffee shops and this is the area where you go island hoping at.
Side note: You can’t swim in El nido beach because of the pollution but you take the island tours all from el nido beach and if you wanna swim at a clean, clear and pretty beach just take a Tuk Tuk 9 minutes up the road to miramegmeg beach and chill there for the day and swim. There are many restobars there at miramegmeg beach.
The owner is very friendly. He filled up my water bottles for me to brush my teeth. Do not use any of the water from the faucet to brush your teeth not even rinse the toothbrush unless you prepare to become very ill. You don’t want that, trust me! I also ate in the restaurant which was ok. I’ve had better and I have had worse. To me food was fine. I had my favorite Indian dish, vindaloo chicken, Basatmi rice, and plain naan and came to $20 usd which is insane for Philippine pricing.
Room for improvements -
I take 2 stars for the water if the shower smelling badly. The price of the food is quite high, not being able to pay with card, and the stairs are quite dangerous as each step is very narrow in depth and makes very dangerous to slip down so easily. Provide water to each guest automatically, and to remain budget friendly provided in the hallway a water gallon dispenser for each guest to be able to refill a water bottle.
I didn’t take photos of the food or hotel on...
Read moreExcited to introduce my fiancé to some Indian food, the sweeter curry’s so she can get an idea of the wide array of Indian flavours.
We saw Ashoka was near where we were staying so decided to give it a go.
The food is well presented and well cooked, the chicken tikka meat is authentic but the regional recipes they are cooking the korma and tikka masala recipes from is completely different to any Indian I’ve ever tasted. I cook a lot of Indian food from home and have over the years learned the recipes from different restaurants in the uk.
The key difference here is the sauces are extremely salty and they are not cooked to be sweet.
We ordered a chicken korma and chicken tikka masala. Biriyani rice and some garlic naan bread.
The naan is very flat with a lot of garlic pressed into it. Very greasy too. We tend to have them raised with large bubbles done in a tandoori oven stuck to the side until they fall off. It tasted ok but was more similar to a soft pizza base texture.
When uk restaurants make a tikka masala or korma they have a Garabi (curry base soup) , then they add a spoon of coconut powder and sugar to it and reduce then throw the meat in and sometimes some cream to make a korma.
For a tikka masala it’s similar but they will add a tikka mix to the garabi then again sugar.
Anyways, yeah not what we used to as a foreigner, my fiancé Filipina pallet it tastes delicious. So that’s something.
Just be warned, it’s not Indian curry like...
Read moreFirst of all don't get discaised by Google reviews because most of them are fake ! You can just see most of five stars are given by profile who have one review, that makes clear they are fake.
Food here is expensive, it's not that I can't afford it, it's about quality and authenticity, Biryani was served with yogurt generally raita and salan should be served, when we asked about raita they replied it's charged extra ! And the Biryani was fried rice not an authentic one, roti was good but dal was the worst. Please don't ruin the name of Biryani. I know you may not like my review but you take me positively.
I have to edit this review because of your arrogant reply, First of all I have not requested anything extra for free, so mind your Language about me or an Indian. Secondly if you are so anti Indian take off the name of India. Please come to India call me will definitely show how good Indian is, You have a phobia that every Indian expects free so I feel petty about you.
ADVICE for INDIAN'S: Please avoid this restaurant, because he never respects Indians... Same as it was no change...
