Reply to the owner’s edit - do better, excuses upon excuses, and look at you using a derogatory slang, “Karen” attitude. Cleary you have some reflecting to do. Thank you. :)
Reply to the owner’s comment - you need to do a better investigation. It is better to learn from your mistakes rather than make excuses to why your service is bad. Kindly reflect on that. It is not my fault you couldn’t meet my standards. Why don’t you ask ate Shenna what the other guests thought. She said they have also commented the unpleasant demeanour some of your wait staff.
The experience was overall disappointing. TLDR: food had poor flavour combinations, not properly cooked, wait staff, other than Ate Shenna, were lacking customer service skills and finally, wait time for food was too long.
There was a really long wait for food, 1.25 hours to be exact. The reason was “there was too many people”. This is El Nido, there will be a lot of people. There needs to be a much better system to make sure the kitchen and staff work efficiently to accommodate the busy area. I can understand and have the patience to wait 30 minutes for good experience and food. However, this was not it.
The food, the prawn, had a sour after taste, overcooked and the bisque was solid, needs to be jelly consistency. The flavour combination of the sautéed vegetables and the prawn with the rice. Not good. The calamari rings were overcooked. As an avid seafood eater, this place doesn’t hit the standards compared to the surrounding restaurants. The beef curry was good. The edible flowers don’t add anything to each dish.
The wait staff were lacking. The only person working in my point of view was ate Shenna. She always had a smile on her face, so it pains me to give such a critical review. She deserves to work at a better establishment for her customer service skills. The two male waiters just waiting behind the pole next to the toilets, looking angry, seriously questioning whether you even wanna be there.
Sadly, we have come to the conclusion that we will not come back nor endorse this...
Read moreOn our third night in El Nido we took the 5 min walk from the El Nido Moringa Resort to the Lion's Sunset Lounge, mainly because they advertise themselves as Asian Fusion. What we didn’t know was that the ambiance, warm welcoming attitude, exceptional service, the spectacular ocean sunset view with mountainous backdrop and outstanding food was what we were in store for. Zenna and her staff are professionals that completely understand the service industry. This restaurant hit and exceeded all the marks and was quite arguably the best dinner we have had in El Nido, perhaps in the Philippines as a whole. It was so good we made reservations to return the next night to try some other dishes.

Read moreLion's Sunset Lounge in El Nido boasts a beautiful setting, perfect for enjoying the sunset. However, my dining experience was significantly impacted by the limited availability of key ingredients. Unfortunately, they were out of peanut sauce and peanut butter during my visit, which effectively ruled out many of the gluten-free dishes I was hoping to try. This severely restricted my options and was quite disappointing. Furthermore, I found the practice of requiring guests to remove their shoes to be both inconvenient and unsanitary. While I understand the desire to maintain a certain aesthetic, this policy seems misplaced in a beachside restaurant setting. Unlike a spa where cleanliness is paramount, the floor in a busy restaurant, especially one located near the beach, is not likely to be pristine. This resulted in my clean feet becoming dirty, which detracted from the overall experience. Adding to this, at around 10 pm, I observed a group of guests enjoying their evening downstairs being pressured to leave. The staff, particularly the lady at reception, gave them noticeable 'dirty looks,' creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. It seemed they were being rushed out. On a more positive note, the food was nicely presented and of a better standard than many other restaurants in the area. While the location is undeniably stunning, I hope Lion's Sunset Lounge reconsiders its ingredient stock, footwear policy, and customer service practices to better cater...
