My family, a party of 10, had a reservation set for dinner on Mother’s day and confirmed. The whole party traveled to Poblacion all the way from North Edsa, excited to celebrate the occassion. However, the restaurant failed to inform us that they would be apparently closed on that day, even though we had made a reservation days beforehand.
Needless to say, it was a very unpleasant surprise for us all to arrive at the restaurant just to find out we made the trip for nothing. It took us all a good 30 minutes circling the area trying to locate the retaurant before finally spotting a small building with all the lights and signs turned off. Understandably, we were furious at this point since all we wanted was for the grandmothers and moms to have a great time that evening. So we called the manager to confirm, who told us that he had asked his staff to send us a text saying that they were closed (which we found out was never sent, after checking all our inboxes). Even if the text message had been sent (which it again, was not), they should have informed the guests via phone call (the same process they use for guests to make reservations). Although the manager apologized for their mistake, no efforts were made beyond that. No offer of help was even made and a we were all expected to simply accept his apology, leave, and relocate our planned mother’s day dinner.
At this point, what else could we do? We all had to try looking for another restaurant that could accomodate 10 people (not an easy feat during Mother’s day dinner since almost all the restaurants in the area were already completely booked). Although we were finally able to find an alternative restaurant (albeit with much difficulty, an hour and a half later), the whole experience really did put a sour taste in everyone’s mouth during the whole dinner and we all went home soon after with memories of a Mother’s day gone horribly wrong.
I truly am disappointed with such service and lack of professionalism shown by the manager and staff of Dr. Wine Manila. I sincerely hope they look into this so no one else will have to go through the ordeal we did, especially on such a...
Read moreCelebrated my 18th birthday in their private room. The food was great, my guests loved the food. The vibe and atmosphere was also good. However, we were very disappointed with the staffs. We arrived in the place around 3:30 pm because based on the viber chats that we had, they said we can occupy the space at 3pm and onwards ( my party started at 6 ). When we arrived, the place was dirty! Dust everywhere and trashes! It looked like they didn’t clean after a party. Overall the private room looks old and dirty, I think they need to redecorate the room and the furniture. The couches looked old, one of the table had a broken glass on top, everything was very dirty. Knowing that we reserved that room a month before my event, they should’ve prepared for our arrival because we needed to decorate the space. We asked a staff about it and they said that the staff will clean around 5pm. Around 5pm, there were staffs helping clean the place up but they were gone after they cleaned. They didn’t even lead us to the room when we were there, they just said to go upstairs and did not even help us get the room ready, like open the air condition, etc. During the party, from what I remember there was just one guy who helped us in the event. Most of the staffs were in the kitchen area/ were not there at all, and did not do anything! I understand that it was not just us who hosted a party or an event during that time, but sana they could’ve prepared the place earlier and have more than 1 staff during my event. Knowing that we spent a lot for this event, they could’ve...
Read moreAt first, I had a hard time looking for this place because it's situated in a pretty peculiar area for a fine dining restaurant. However, I was wowed as soon as I came in. This place is absolutely beautiful. It is quiet and relaxing. Perfect for a date night, but great for luncheon as well. This is my first time trying Dr. Wine. I had heard about it way way back, but I had never really gone here. And I must say, I'm very happy I finally tried it.
I'd give the ambience 5/5. I really loved the rustic vibe. Who would have thought there's a gem in Poblacion? This place really exceeded my expectations. It's very private and intimate. You could either have a date or hang out with your close friends.
I would also like to commend our server Mike. His customer service is exceptional. Very friendly, accommodating, and he is very knowledgable about the wines they serve. He had us taste some wines as well. Customer service is 5/5. The owners greeted us as well, so that's a plus.
Here are my food ratings:
Sea Food Pasta (Php 780) - 3/5 I give this dish this rating simply because I am allergic to spice. This is really spicy, and I wish the server had told me as it was not indicated on the menu.
Rib Eye 300G (Php 1,280) - 5/5 The steak includes some sides. It was done exactly the way I wanted. The price is worth it for the quality.
We got the bread for Php 90, and a bottle of Septima Malbec 2017 for Php 1,900.
Will definitely come back here and...
