Their barista, Irene, has to be the rudest most dismissive barista I've ever encountered. Even the know-it-all folks at micro-cafes that I've visited have better customer service. If you think about it, how much can you over-engineer a coffee to stand out as a cafe? The place was NOT packed. There were 6 tables, max, occupied when we arrived, our party of 10 occupied the 6th. Most of the other tables were served. Where was the attitude coming from?
This particular barista, after we respectfully and politely spoke to her, answered as if we were bothering her while she was saving the coffee world - smirking and not even looking at us. Bro, you make coffee, you're not some savant playing a piece of music. She kept walking around in that little booth, virtually muttering answers that only she can hear. She could've just told us properly that other staff would accommodate us - like NORMAL service people would. Like other NORMAL people would in general. I dont need to be treated like some VIP but seriously, why act so dismissive towards customers who ask for your recommendation when it's an opportunity to showcase what the cafe offers? Di naman special ang Illy. The ambiance is drab - they cant compete with others. To level with readers, people go there because other cafes are full NOT because it's LEAGUES above the rest. But cute biscotti, I guess?
Again hindi busy during this time. At wala pang 3hours na bukas ang cafe para mag-amok. I could still remember which tables were filled. Ever. 😆 then I asked for the bill again and they gave me a senior discount along with someone else's ID and when I said it wasn't mine (I'm a woman in my 30s), the crew defended that my order was correct... 😆 uhmm, I'm not in the man in the ID? 😆 when I got the correct bill, I paid in cash then another staff asked me if I already received my bill. I said they haven't returned my change yet. I finally got the change and left. What a strange scene!

Read moreThis was always my go to coffee in rockwell unfortunately you have a rude waiter who is not accommodating to my special child..we had to go buy a cupcake from a different store (just one cupcake) for him to be able to eat, while we ordered two coffee and one pastry bread at illy..the waiter said we do not accept other pastries in our cafe, i said this is for my child the waiter said they do have a cctv and can be seen..i understand the protocol but there are exceptions to the rule and i do not intend to deviate from it..my child happen not to like any pastries you have and we parents would just want to have a good coffee.
