After reading a few reviews I thought I will give this place a try. My go to place for a USDA Prime Steak is on Yakal, but since I was in Power Plant i thought why not. The outcome was disastrous on all fronts, except the service from server Mr Edward and Manager Ms Charm who tried to salvage the situation. I walked in without a reservation at 5PM. and the very rude Supervisor Joe who's welcome and greeting was," I need the table by 7." He didn't greet or welcome me, his mission was to kick me out by 7. He even didn't ask me if I was there for dinner, a drink or a sandwich. However someone else seated me at the outdoor area. Mr Edward prepared a fan since it was quite balmy. His knowledge and attention to detail was par excellence. Food I ordered a San Mig Light P130, Mamous Greens P385, and supposed to be US Prime Rib P2,550 for 400grams.and a bottle of Protos P2,150. Salad was refresfing and tasted good, I ordered Prime Rib cooked Medium and it came rare and bloody. Plus over 50% gristle and fat. I sent it back and the cook placed it under the salamander and was returned, still bloody and rare. No Yorkshire Pudding as stated on the menu. I should have taken a photo of the steak when it was returned the 2nd time. I lived in the US, Hong Kong and Singapore and I know what USDA Prime means. The place mat brags about the establishments knowledge about US Beef, Dry Aged Beef, Maine Lobsters, giving the impression that this is a US Steakhouse. My experience with the very poor quality Beef suggests that the steak I was given was no way USDA Prime. I would get a better tasting better quality steak in a diner in the US. USDA PRIME 109 OP Rib is a top quality prime cut and what was served did not taste anything like that. I even don't thnk its Choice (2nd grade) may be Select(below 2nd grade).or maybe not US Beef. I peeked into the kitchen while waiting to use the CR, and the kitchen didn't look anyway organized and equipped to be a NY Steakhouse as claimed by some diners. I spent P5,682 plus P180 for a coffee and left nearly hungry as I could not eat the poor quality steak flavorless, undercooked and full of gristle are...
Read moreI recently hosted a dinner for my team and clients at Mamou Rockwell. With 11 of us in attendance, we had made an advanced reservation and were informed of a minimum spend requirement of Php24K. Arriving promptly, we found ourselves in a segregated area that was uncomfortably small, with only a sliding door separating us from others, and it was too loud we couldn’t hear each other well. Adding to our discomfort, the air conditioning was set at an extremely cold temperature, prompting everyone, including my clients from the US, to wear jackets and hoodies.
To make matters worse, shortly after our food was served, a server abruptly announced in front of my clients that we had not met the minimum spend requirement, which was a rather embarrassing moment. This is unacceptable. Instead of discreetly addressing the issue with me after we had a chance to enjoy our meal, a bit or two, the announcement was made publicly causing unnecessary discomfort.
Despite this setback, I politely informed the server that we would order desserts to meet the minimum spend requirement. However, our evening took another unfortunate turn when the server interrupted our dessert to insist that we settle the bill and vacate the premises by 7:30 pm. This rushed and disrespectful behavior was unacceptable, especially considering the importance of the dinner and the presence of my valued clients.
As someone who frequently hosts client dinners, I must express my disappointment with the level of customer service we received at Mamou. What happened to the warm and welcoming atmosphere that the restaurant is known for? Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome and rushed, leaving a sour taste in our mouths. This experience has left me questioning whether Mamou truly values its patrons, and I am inclined to seek alternative venues for future client...
Read moreThe food was good. We were a party of 18 pax. We ordered appetizers, an assortment of salads, steak, several of their pastas, and the fried chicken was spectacular. Price was well worth it. All in all, I would give the restaurant a 4.5 rating, save for their waitstaff.
One of the members of our party requested for a comment card to give feedback. The waitstaff asked for what reason. Our companion wanted to comment that the baked white fish was just "okay", compared to everything else. She wanted to say that she didn't taste the capers as much, nor the wine in which it was cooked with (if any). The waitstaff said that he'll taste the food and forward the comments to the chef.
Upon returning, instead of saying that the feedback was relayed to the cook/chef, he goes on by saying, "Ma'am, tinikman ko naman yung fish. Ok naman siya. Medyo maalat nga dahil sa capers."
First of all, customers are entitled to comment and give feedback on the food that they ordered. That is their prerogative. Whether they want it salty, or have less salt, they are entitled to their preference because they are paying for the food that they will consume. The proper thing to have done, in my opinion, was to thank the customer for her feedback, instead of arguing and saying that he tasted the food and found it to be "good".
Unless the waitstaff is the owner of the establishment, or the chef himself, his opinion is of no consequence. For this SOLE REASON, Mamou Too gets a rating of 1 star because of rude waitstaff -...
