Here’s the thing. I’ve been wanting to try a mano for a year, or two now, and I finally had the opportunity. I went here just today (05/10/24) to celebrate my birthday 🎉 Only difficulty I experienced so far was the reservation system — no one was attending to the mobile number listed on Google and the chatbot just directs to the website. I’m not letting that dampen the rest of the review but perhaps something a mano Rockwell branch can improve on. Moving on! At first, we were seated in the al fresco area, but since we requested for an indoor seating, the staff eventually moved us and even got us a bigger table since they knew we had a lot of orders and stuff. That is such a thoughtful and detailed gesture. As for the food — everything we got was amazing. The steak (at PHP 2,600) was tender, had options for seasoning on the side, and overall delicious. The cut seemed to be on the fattier side, so it was fat-flavorful and juicy. The Osso Bucco’s serving size was surprising. We didn’t expect that it would be packed like that 😂 the bone marrow on top tasted like fried pork rinds almost, but without having a very oily mouthfeel. So, so good. Carbonara was creamy, eggy, and al dente. Make sure to get a bite with both the sauce-coated pasta and guanciale—it created the perfect bite. We also got the octopus and marrow risotto. The risotto itself was more on the sour acid tomato side than savory, that the marrow bits balance it out and give you something to be surprised about in every bite. You will understand it when you order it. Cheese cone was straightforward. It’s just cheese 😂 that basically added oomph to every dish we added it to. We got a small complimentary serving of burrata ice cream. What an interesting flavor. Like milk (as expected), but with a salty blend. Iced tea was not too sweet!! And I actually love that about it. What a good way to spend my birthday!

This was our first time trying a mano, and it was delicious! The name stands for "handmade" and this truly shines. Everything from the doughs, pastas, sauces, and sides are all made in house on premise, and they've nailed it. Luxury, Italian comfort food, at its finest. 👌 The restaurant was recently featured as a top restaurant in Manila, and is subsequently very busy. It can be challenging to do a walk in, and they restaurant itself recommends 5 days ahead reservations. It was quite crowded when we went. Onto the food: The pizza was great: thin but not soggy center with several cheese, fluffy outer crust, charred but not burnt, and nice honey drizzle for contrast, this is some of the best pizza in the Philippines! The Occo Busso was excellent. Rich creamy polenta overlain with a savory meat sauce and succulent falling apart veal, topped with bike marrow. I kind of ordered on a whim not expected much: it surprised me. Of course we loved our ravioli. We got both the egg ravioli and spinach/cheese blend. This is my first time trying handmade pasta, and you can really taste the difference. It's far more delicate and fresh tasting. Dry pasta tastes almost stale by comparison. While both were excellent, they were similar enough we didn't need both. Definitely just get the egg ravioli and treat yourself to something special very few places can pull off. We did enjoy the bacon caesar salad and puffed gnocchi, but both were a bit overkill for our dinner. It was just our first time and we over ordered. 😅 Lastly, we were blown away by the desserts. Both the Panna Cotta and Burrata Gelato were world class settings for a unique set of well themed toppings available. I fell in love with the Honeycomb Panna Cotta combo and my fiance thoroughly enjoyed the Balsamic Strawberry Burrata Gelato. These were both very well thought finishes to the meal.

Their Tiramisu met all my expectations; well-made and incredibly satisfying. They’ve truly perfected it, and it deserves the praise it’s receiving. They should consider selling it in bulk because it’s just that addictive! I want to return just to eat this again. The Stracciatella pizza was great; moist, with a firm yet elastic dough. Amazing overall, but not the best gas oven pizza I’ve had in the Philippines. I wanted to try the premium options, but they were a bit over my budget. The Bucatini all'Amatriciana was well seasoned, but I would've preferred the Guanciale to be crispier, because it was a bit chewy. It was enjoyable, but the texture and flavors could still be balanced better. The Pollo al Burro was juicy and crunchy, but it needed some acidity to balance the rich, buttery flavor. I'm not sure the breaded crust was needed, as Pollo al Burro focuses on the rich, buttery sauce. Breaded crusts are more common in dishes like Pollo alla Milanese, but it might have been added to suit the Filipino palate. The dish could still improve with a good sauce, though I enjoyed it overall. I enjoyed the Birra Moretti but wished it came in a smaller size like the Peroni. I doubt many people realize that native Italians often pair beer with pizza instead of wine, as I felt a bit out of place seeing no one else ordering the Italian beers on the menu. I wish they introduce a recommended pizza-beer pairing menu in the future, hopefully with more Filipino craft beers. Sidenote: The AC was on full blast where I sat, and while they adjusted it when I asked, I still felt cold for the rest of the meal. It was freezing!

Visited in March. Philippines - Manila. Makati A fantastic family-friendly spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner! The restaurant exudes a cozy and charming ambiance, and I was particularly impressed by the open kitchen and the large wood-fired pizza oven. Overall, it was a delightful experience. Food: We sampled their homemade pasta, spinach ravioli, spicy salami pizza, and Frittomisto. Among these, we were disappointed with the Frittomisto dish. The squid was extremely tough and rubbery, making it impossible to chew. The shrimp, surprisingly, were fried with their heads on, and the zucchini was excessively oily and lacked flavor, resulting in a very unsuccessful dish. However, the pasta and pizza were delightful. Working with dough is crucial for an Italian restaurant, and they excelled at it here. The pizza crust had the perfect texture, the toppings were plentiful, and the base was wonderfully thin. For dessert, we indulged in tiramisu, which was delicious. Personally, I prefer a more delicate, mousse-like texture, while this one leaned more towards being cake-like rather than the traditional pastry-like consistency. Service: The service was satisfactory for a casual family establishment. It was unobtrusive, the dishes were promptly served, and the drinks arrived in a timely manner. Overall, I enjoyed my time at this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine. I believe it's a fantastic spot for locals in the area to enjoy delicious food.

Ridiculously overpriced for lower than average quality italian food - but that's reasonable as everytime I went there, it was fully booked or almost no table available . - I went there 3 times: -Spaghetti were very low quality, meaning the spaghetti used were low quality, not aldente at all. And for that price I expected much much better. -The focaccia was top notch and was the reason I came back each time. - The pizza, although it was good, the mozzarella didn't really feel like mozzarella di bufala as advertised, more like a lower quality kind of mozzarella. Well we are in PH so I didn't expect much, but at that price? Yes I expected much better quality, although it's good pizza. Service: the second time I went there, I ordered hot latte - it arrived after 20 minutes, without sugar - I told the waiter If he may bring me some sugar - 15 minutes passed by - still no sugar - I asked another waiter - again 15 minutes passed by, no sugar - I then asked him again - he apologized that he forgot and brought me in 1 minute - but at that time, my hot latte became already cold. And for that hyper expensive price I expected much better and top quality everything. Instead it's mid quality at an hyperexpensive price. Price is justified since it's always full, not because of the quality. In summary, I wouldn't reccomend this place because it's always full and hyperexpensive for mid quality food & service. The pasta tho was lower than mid quality and wouldn't reccomend it at all.

Edit: Returned a few months later (Apr 2024) specifically for dessert since we loved it the first time around. Happy to update that their service is so much better now. 🙌 No complaints! Original review: A bit disappointed by what I presume were shortcomings from the staff and/or the systems in place at this particular branch rather than the food itself. The receptionist was curt and unaccommodating, we asked to be waitlisted, were told to come back in an hour but when we did, she still didn’t seem to want to seat us. She also promised to contact us but never did. Other than the receptionist, the rest of the staff were great, but they served both our pizzas cold so the entire thing had gotten soggy. In terms of just flavor though, it was great. For other dishes— the rack of lamb needed more seasoning, the carpaccio was average, and the amatriciana sauce tasted underdeveloped. Aside from that, everything else we ordered was great. The squid ink tagliatelle and pork cutlet (Cotoletta ala Milanese) were executed well and seasoned perfectly. But the real 5 star standout dishes were the egg yolk ravioli and the insanely delicious desserts (particularly the panna cotta with honeycomb & burrata gelato). Those were sooo good that it’s actually still worth coming back for, despite the other disappointments. Hopefully they make real improvements to ensure their food is made consistently well, and in the exact way & quality that it was intended to be served.
