The restaurant that stood the test of time. This placed opened up when my parents were still dating and was the forefront of the what Japanese should be in the Philippines. My parents even referred to this place as the Japanese restaurant in Mile Long.
I tried this place with them from time to time, and now I could say that this place was good! Although standards have changed now and their food quality has become average, their prices are still very competitive especially for those budget conscious but still want authentic Japanese food.
That being said, aside from the Japanese staples like Ebi tempura, California Maki, they had very decent donburi here like the Katsudon, and their fried rice is really good.
Beware however on their ramen. Since the opening of places like Ippudo, Ramen Nagi, and Ramen Ron, this restaurant has fallen behind on their ramen game. It used to be famous here back in the 80s, but now is has become plain compared to the other competitors. Still a solid location at...
Read moreI visited Shinjuku Ramen on Pasong Tamo yesterday for the first time in many years. I had the liver and chives stir-fry, the mixed teppanyaki, and the bean sprout ankake ramen. The noodles in the ramen have changed compared to the old days, but everything else… was just as delicious as I remembered.

Read moreWent here for our dinner Ambiance - quite dark inside, hot with minimal to no functioning air conditioning unit. Mosquitos are present as well as few cockroaches, eww Service - poor given there are very few customers yet we overheard the staff convo that they forgot our ramen order reason why we are finished with our california maki and yet no ramen was yet to be served Food - california maki is authentic. But the ramen is 100% no. With a lot of options in their menu, i choose the shiyo ramen - a safe variand of ramen but it tastes water and the noodles taste like instant noodles. How can they say home of authentic ramen - blah. Definitely never coming back. Better to eat at kikufuji just beside them everything...
