I've spent most of my life blissfully ignorant of cuisine outside of my omnivorish and severely western arrogance. When a vegan friend recommended vegan food, the part of me that has forged a Ramen history of a 1000 broths, simply scoffs at the idea of any vegan umami that can hit the spot only the fattiest of animal stews could. Often people who dine plant based have a multitude very personal reasons. My vegan journey has been a meandering one. Walking confidently on the Straight and narrow from one moment to fragile and lost the very next. The day we ventured over to WabiSabi, 2 tasks were at hand: one, nourishing the body, and two, to do so in a plant based manner. Spontaneously after a random rain soaked morning of Cubao thrifting, my Lady and I felt that Ramen, and only Ramen could fill the void we created on this 13,000 step-count day. I opted for a couple of snacks: some gyoza...which were fine. They scratched the gyoza itch. The unagi...which did all the sweet and savory things you could ask of an 85 peso dish; however, it was the Tantanmen Ramen that wrecked this omnivore's world view of what a humble bowl of plant based noodles could do for a hungry soul. There's 3 vegan dishes in Manila I cannot forget, the steak sandwich @christinecruz01 makes, the vegan stuffed crust pizza from crosta, and this f*cking flavor bomb of a bowl from Wabi Sabi. This is a dish not only for vegans, but for that of mankind. The world is truly better when we have people pour out a wonderful idea into...
Read moreDefinetly a recommendation for every vegan & vegetarian! They are very aware of what‘s vegan and what‘s not. They offer to make it vegan for most of the dishes (including delicious ice and creamy broth). 4 stars because we felt that our food was missing a bit of spice. However, they various sauces and spices to season the dish yourself (for free of course). Still, all of the dishes we tried we‘re tasty and filling. Nice service: I spent about 4 more hours here doing some work, after we ate and they didn‘t „complain“ at all. Also there‘s free service water and everyone was friendly. Ambiente: A really cozy restaurant with nice yellow light, wodden interiours and love to the detail, especially in theire chill corner with books etc. Really relaxing jazz music was playing. Price: Slightly more pricey than a regular filipino restaurant. However, totally acceptable, especially when consudering that the store is lowkey fancy and all of the dishes are vegetarian (possibly vegan). All in all definetly worth it‘s price. All in all: I would give this store a 4,5, but since this isn‘t possible it‘s rather a 4 than a 5, since there is some room for improvement still. However, i was absolutely satisfied and would consider the 4 stars, 4 good stars. Definetly recommend this store! Note: Card payment is not possible. They accept...
Read moreThe menu is short and straight to the point. I have tried a lot of the dishes by now and they’re all good. But what I recommend are the Okonomigyoza, Corn tempura and Shio ramen. Special shoutout to the cracklings, taste just like chicharon! They are just so delicious and clean. Prices are very good as well. not overpriced like in other vegetarian places.
For dessert, they have a shaved ice menu as well. The size is generous and could be shared by 2 people. But a lot of the flavours are very interesting so i keep coming back to try different ones. The black sesame is my favourite so far.
The staff are so attentive and nice. When you order, they make sure to ask if you want the vegetarian or the vegan version of the dish.
This place is super lowkey, located inside of Makati Cinema Square. I have been going to other restaurants nearby but have missed this a lot. It was recommended by a friend since I am vegetarian 2 months per year. I can say it is my absolute favourite vegetarian...
