When my husband asked our daughter what she wanted for dinner, she said steak. We normally cook our own steaks but since this was a last minute request, my husband suggested mamou. So after mass we rushed here to Mamou Prime in Podium. Its my first time to go to this branch. Again, steaks are eaten at home, perfectly grilled to our tastes by my husband. Since it was late, it was not crowded. The tables were quite small and the place looked like den. We had to order right away because the last order was in 30 mins. We had 3 steaks, a salad, and appetizer and another dish. We also ordered our drInks. Sodas, an iced tea, juices , and a velodka. Our waiter Clark was very nice and helpful. He also was very accommodating with our request to chill a soda before bringing it to the table. First came the brown bread and butter. The bread was yummy. It was chewy and soft at the same time. Then the salad, appetizers and a tuyo dish arrived. The salad was ok but paired with the stracciatella it was better. We also got the tofu and smoked fish spring rolls. This was good too. My son ordered the spicy sweet tuyo. I didn't get to try this but thebones who did said it was good. Then came the steaks and sides. The steaks were cooked well albeit under seasoned so the pots of salt and pepper were really a welcome staple on the table. The steaks also were not as soft as I had hoped. Not prime beef, more like a choice cut. The sides were just ok. The steaks rice which my daughter raved about was good. Better if you add the dripping of the steak and some burnt steak bits. Some of the sides are free with the steaks but others have additional costs added to your bill, like the broccoli with cottage cheese. The broccoli was cooked well and the cheese topping was chewy and had a good flavor. The drinks were also enjoyed by everyone. Lastly, we ordered the fried milk and pecan pie for dessert. The fried milk was really good and the pie had a really good salty crust but needed more pecans and cream. Overall, an enjoyable meal. My husband again reiterated that if he was going to eat steaks from a restaurant, it would be from Mamou. I say this is very...

💬 Reservation was simple because they replied quickly through SMS. We visited on their Saturday lunch service and the place was packed. Reservation is definitely recommended if you’re going to celebrate an important event. We were seated quickly and in a place where the lighting was good. Restroom needed to be maintained better 😅
The 𝙂𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙑𝙚𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙙 was good, but wasn’t really stand out. The salad includes whole wheat fusilli, vegetables, and an anchovy dressing. As compared to other salad choices, this was quite heavy. Hehe we think that we should’ve gotten a lighter choice 😅
As expected, the 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙨 𝙍𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙮𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙠 tasted great. We requested it to be cooked medium rare, and the doneness was executed perfectly.
𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙯𝙤’𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙡𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢, true to its name, had an incredibly creamy truffle sauce. Noodles were cooked al dente and had a satisfying bite. The dish tasted good but we would have preferred if there were other elements to balance the rich taste of cream.
The typical steak + truffle pasta is a good combo, since the saltinesss of the steak perfectly balances the creaminess of the pasta.
For the sides, we got the 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙍𝙞𝙘𝙚 and 𝘾𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙖𝙗𝙖. The steak rice felt a bit dry, but the saba was seasoned perfectly. Its cinnamon sugar outer layer was...
Read moreBeen to mamou before but like any sensible mamou goer, i had the steak and the steak alone. But this time i had companions who bought into the social media hype and ordered some of their so-called best sellers.
Big mistake.
The truffle pasta was nothing special, truffle cream sauce and well cooked pasta. For the price though it could've been presented better than something i could've plucked out of a buffet.
The red steak rice I thought was a mistake, tasted like plain red rice. So i ordered the white steak rice, nope, it's really just rice with a bit of soy sauce. mamou has the worst steak rice I've ever had by far. Where most places steak rice would be flavored with oily beefy goodness and bits of steak trimmings, mamou saw fit to just color their rice with a bit of soy sauce. The worst part? The red rice had a pebble in it.
Maybe I shouldn't wear slippers to mamou? The service seems to correspond to the dressiness level. After informing the waiter of aforementioned pebble, all i got was a half-hearted sorry before they hurriedly cleared away our steak plate. I didn't get a single water refill despite having an empty glass halfway through the meal. In fact, despite the restaurant being half full, i was asked if i had a reservation and only seated when another table also without a reservation was seated before me.
The steak was still good, creamed spinach was standard fare, the rest of the experience though was decidedly 1 star.
See you next time mamou, maybe, but I'll be sure to...
