Me and hubby never missed eating here whenever we are in Manila. It's an al fresco style eating place along the sidewalk of Remedios Street just in front of Cowboy Grill Malate (yes, you can have free music from Cowboy lol). We love their BBQ prepared in different types . You just have to get a plate and pick all the BBQ that you want and put them in that plate. Usually we pick around 12-14 sticks of different types. They also have meats, seafoods and vegetables that you can ask to be cooked the way you like. You then give the plate of BBQ to the staff and order rice and drinks. They serve mineral water, beers and soda. After several minutes (depending on the number of customers who ordered ahead of you), the same staff will give your orders together with a small bowl of dipping sauce. We like the BBQ with garlic and the Taiwan sausage. Also the gizzard. They are all cooked perfectly. Delicious and juicy. And most of all price is affordable. For 12-14 sticks, 2 rice and one mineral water, we usually pay less than 500 pesos. Ambiance may not be great since it's along the sidewalk where vehicles pass by. Vendors and street children may also stop at your table to ask for food and money. It's up to you if you want to give or not. Anyway, staff asks them to stay away and stop pestering you. Overall, it is a great place to eat on a budget (compared to eating in a nice restaurant with the same quality of food). We will always come here for dinner. Tip: If it's raining, they do have big umbrellas that they place in the center...
Read moreBeen wanting to come here ever since i saw it on Bourdain's show. ( Could be the cnn version). And then recently featured by Sonnyside with Paps Chui. Apeace!
Calamares/ fried squid was perfectly cooked. Probably the best version i have ever tasted. Sisig is also top notch. Garlic and fried rice - forget about it. The fried rice will give alot of chinese restaurants a run for its money.
i would stay away from their bbq though, i thought it had almost no seasoning and it was tough. I kinda get they were going after samgyup style.. but yea. it was tough.
overall it was a great experience. i would definitely come...
Read moreThe best sisig I had the entire trip. Some one told me that Bourdain ate there, I can see why. Be cool, grab a seat in the street and someone will be over to get you. Bucket of tasty San Miguel beer - check, easy to understand picture menu, check. Amazing sisig, check. You'll have a great time watching the city pass right by you. People will sell you smokes or pork rinds. One dude was selling hats. Right smack Fab in the middle of a ton of video karaoke places (if that's your thing) and near a cool roundabout that is buzzing at all hours (isn't that...
