The Aristocrat Restaurant - SM City San Lazaro — Restaurant in Manila

My visit to Aristocrat in SM City San Lazaro left me with mixed feelings. While the restaurant's ambiance was pleasant and the staff attentive, there were certain aspects that fell short of expectations. The menu boasted a variety of Filipino dishes, and I opted for their signature chicken barbecue. The dish was flavorful, capturing the essence of local cuisine, and the portions were generous. However, the presentation felt somewhat lackluster, and the chicken's texture was slightly overcooked, affecting the overall enjoyment.

The service was efficient, with the staff being quick to take orders and provide recommendations. Despite this, there was a noticeable delay in receiving the food, which was a bit disappointing. The restaurant's cleanliness was satisfactory, although some areas seemed in need of attention.

Their classic is still good, but veering away from that series, you'll be given a bunch of unappealing old food. We tried pancit and its taste was like the meat is old and weren't cleaned properly, giving off scum-like smell. 2nd strike was also their sinigang, has the same unhygienic taste and smell. Dinuguan and some other heavily sauced dishes felt like it's really been cooked for a long time already, which they've just been reheating. Ambiance is so so, no music, long wait, but peaceful. This restaurant was good before, years back, now it's just plain old boring, and needs improvement with their food handling...

The branch here in SM San Lazaro serves food that tastes completely different. It's neither umami nor masarap—just pure disappointment. I had the same dish at SM Fairview, and it was delicious. I'm not sure what they’re doing to the food when it’s served here, but it’s clearly not up to standard. I also ate here before the pandemic and was equally disappointed. My sister and I both agreed we should have gone to Kuya J or Max's instead. Sometimes, curiosity doesn't pay off. This experience will be unforgettable, and I will NEVER recommend this place to my family...
