We ate dinner at a nearby Japanese restaurant and decided to visit for some after dinner drinks. BIG MISTAKE!
20 minutes after placing our cocktail order, the waitress informed my partner his drink was unavailable?! He chose a different drink, she served us water and we then waited another 25 minutes for our cocktails to be served! She also muddled up the names of the drinks and served us the other persons drink. We realized after tasting them and had to swap with each other.
The drinks, when they finally arrived, were actually quite nice and the restaurant setting is lovely, but waiting 45 minutes for 2 cocktails when we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant, with at least 6 waitstaff present is farcical. I had hoped to return for dinner another night during our stay, but will definitely be looking elsewhere. Sad, as this place has great potential and perhaps the food is nice, but my time is precious.
Ps, for such a premium resort, the road in to Donatela Resort is abysmal! Filled with bumps and potholes. The worst we’ve seen in three weeks of Philippines travel, including some very...
Read moreWe may be a bit of food snobs, so this review is for you if you appreciate and care for the taste and quality of food. We came at night and can imagine how beautiful the view must be. Hotel and restaurant landscaping is impressive and the dining deck is pleasant. Service was acceptable but unpolished e.g. “you can have the curry veggie, but we cannot discount the price” (we didn’t ask for a discount:)). That’s OK, we can take that and don’t expect highest level of service everywhere. Food isn’t good. Samba salad isn’t tasty and the sesame oil is a bad match for the fruits. Steamed grouper’s sauce was mediocre and the fish itself had a terrible texture. Red Thai curry really tasted more like a Japanese katsu curry and the vegetables were half cooked, pizza wasn’t great and so on... Don’t come here for the food, but you can definitely enjoy the view and possibly drinks (fresh coconut was sour and served at room...
Read moreTop service and food with an incredible view!!
Every morning we had breakfast here..what a scenery.. incredible. Cappuccino was excellent and it is rare as I have lived in Italy and I am very tough on that. So I recommend it! Croissant, being French, are also delicious for a foreign country. Mango juice is amazing. I had also very nice scrambled eggs for which I asked to add cheese in it and it was absolutely not an issue. Employees seem happy to work there, they are always smiling and very nice to you and your requests.
In the evening while you are missing the view, the atmosphere is also very nice as all decorated with small lights.
The Cevice and mango daiquiri are to be recommended !!!
One point to know, is that you cannot take a glass of wine, they only serve bottles and unfortunately they were no white wine available anymore. All the rest was...
