Saffron is an el fresca dining restaurant located within the Amorita Resort. It offers a variety of cuisines.
The ambiance and views are spectacular. Although it can be very hot to eat on a hot day.
Service was very good although the level of attentiveness depends on the waiting staff.
The food was the lowest point. We ordered the roasted chicken and the margaritas pizza.
The roasted chicken was very delicious. It was flavorful perhaps a tad on the salty side. The roasted vegetables were a fresh and a great accompaniment. However, the pizza was a sad tale. The crust is thicker and resembled more of a deep dish type. The flavor wasnt as expected too. Basil leaves were lacking and the mozzarella cheese didn't have the typical string pull. It also had ricotta? I think this was the chefs own unique take on the margarita pizza and didnt resonate well with my palette.
Serving time was also a pain point. A large table next to me had all their main dishes served at different times which is frustrating.
Overall, the experience was great. I would love to try their other dishes to get a better feel of the...
Read moreI decided to visit as a walk-in to use the pool. They assured me no day pass was needed—just order food or drinks, and you could enjoy the facilities. I ordered a drink, settled into a lounge chair by the pool, and barely had time to dip my toe in before two security guards rushed over, telling me the pool was only for hotel guests. Strange, but fine—I decided to stay on the chair and tan instead.
The second I finished my drink and paid, the lifeguard came over, asking for my room number. I explained I was a walk-in, and he told me I had to leave since I didn’t have a drink anymore. I reminded him that staff had said I could use the sunbeds if I ordered something, but he insisted I wasn’t allowed and needed to go.
For the price of the drink, I got zero value or enjoyment. There are far better places offering day passes with clear rules and a much better experience. I wouldn’t...
Read moreAfter being in Panglao for two weeks, this is easily the most expensive restaurant that I’ve tried. I wanted to pay more for a high quality experience. I ordered ribs and beef bulalo. The food took almost an hour to come out and all the meat was very dry and overcooked, similar to a hard meat tack that you might find on the Oregon trail. Im not exaggerating when I say it took two minutes of chewing for one bite. For the price, I was expecting a much better meal with tender meat, but this was far from that. I would not recommend it to anyone. The only redeeming quality was the cheesecake. Better to go to paengs and a local bakery to get some chicken and dessert for 300 pesos, rather than the 2400 pesos I spent for...
