I’m not typically someone who complains, but when there’s a valid reason, I believe it’s important to provide feedback, especially if it can help improve future service. My family and I were excited to try Modern Shanghai for the first time, especially since we’d heard about their promotion for BDO customers, which offers 50% off at Bistro Group restaurants. The hostess was polite when I asked about the promotion, and we were seated and given menus. We were informed that our order would take about 20-25 minutes to be served, which was completely fine.
Our appetizers, the dim sum, were great. However, the manager (dressed in black) gave us only two condiments, even though we were three people. I politely asked for an additional one, but when she returned, she placed the condiments abruptly in front of my mother, spilling some sauce on the table. I was concerned the sauce might spill onto her face, but she didn’t acknowledge the situation, as she was on her phone, which felt rude, especially since the restaurant wasn’t busy.
The braised beef soup arrived cold—like, refrigerator cold. We hadn’t complained yet, but after waiting over half an hour, we still hadn’t received our main dishes. When they finally arrived, the seafood fried rice was also cold. Given the long wait, this was really disappointing.
What bothered me the most, however, was the demeanor of the staff member who served us. There was something off about her attitude. I work in the service industry, so I’m particularly sensitive to these things, but I didn’t feel that she was attentive or considerate. My mother suggested we let it go, but I felt the need to speak up. When I mentioned our concerns, the manager kindly offered to replace the fried rice, but I didn’t want to wait another half hour. She apologized, which I appreciated, and said she hoped to make it up to us in the future—but honestly, I’m not sure...

During our stay, we ordered Orange chicken, Stir Fry beef broccoli, and their signature Xiao long Bao dimsum.
The Orange Chicken pieces are generously coated in a tantalizing orange glaze, striking a perfect balance between sweet and tangy tastes. Its succulent texture and delightful taste make it a must-try for patrons seeking a satisfying and flavorful meal.
While the Stir fry beef strips are skillfully stir-fried to perfection, exuding a smoky and savory essence that harmonizes beautifully with the crisp and vibrant broccoli florets.
While both dishes are impressive, their signature Xiao Long Bao Dimsum is the real crowd pleaser. These delicate soup dumplings are filled with a well-seasoned pork mixture and flavorful broth, which gives you a bright, flavorful surprise in every bite.
Overall, Modern Shanghai excels in providing a memorable dining experience. Whether you are a seasoned fan of Chinese cuisine or a curious newcomer, Modern Shanghai Restaurant is sure to impress and leave a...

We visited on a busy day, so service was a bit slow — we had to wait to be seated and couldn’t place an advance order. We ordered their noodles, xiao long bao, pork chop rice, drinks, and even dessert. Food was delicious as always!
But something unexpected happened — when I got home, I realized my phone was missing. I remembered taking photos of our food, so I knew I had it with me there. I tried calling it and even messaged Modern Shang on social media, but got no response.
I took a chance and went back the next day, hoping for the best — and to my surprise, they had my phone and said they were waiting for me to return for it!
A huge thank you to Modern Shang MOA, especially Ms. Gerly. In times like these, it’s rare to find such honesty and kindness. I’m truly, truly...
