I went to dine here with 2 of my friends last night. We loved the quiet ambience and skylight view at the restaurant. The wait staff were courteous and attentive enough being that there were only 2 other tables occupied. Our appetizer tasted good though i must say that the food presentation could use some improvement to tease the appetite. I liked the spare ribs and noodles in abalone sauce was okay. I was expecting more flavour and maybe more substance than julienned carrots and shitake mushrooms. Desserts I always liked. No problem there. The bony chicken soup that we ordered was a big disappointment because it had a strong fishy taste. We pointed this out to our nice waiter and asked if we can change our order to something different instead. He had to call someone as I asked for the manager. Then came this gentleman whom I think gets to decide how to handle the situation.. not sure if he's the manager though- maybe cashier. He was very insistent that it is supposed to taste like so and that they can't do anything about it. Not apologetic or offered to remedy the situation at all. Disappointing attitude. Not at all happy because I didn't feel the care or their pride in ensuring patron's satisfaction.with their particular cuisine. With the kind of money we paid and the prestigious " Marco Polo" brand., we expected something more in line with...
Read moreThis restaurant had a good reputation once, according to anecdotal reviews. On our visit on a Thursday evening, we ordered items from the a la carte menu, from which a few, including a signature dish (veggies in inari bag), after a delay of more than 15 minutes, were informed as not available. The restaurant strongly pushes its overpriced set menus. The steamed pork siu mai were dry though the meat was well-flavored. We also got seasonal vegetables in garlic, which turned out to be a small plate of mildly flavored boiled vegetables, which at PHP 938 is extremely overpriced and unsatisfying. Service was slow, and the atmosphere reminiscent of a busy 3-star hotel breakfast buffet. If you are visiting this based on its spiffy website or old reviews, don't. There are better dimsum/Cantonese options in Manila. you'll spend less and eat...
Read moreA disappointment! For a pricey, fine dining Chinese restaurant inside a world class hotel, you’d thought they know how to cook lobster right. Nope. We ordered the Live Lobster with Garlic and it was undercooked, really undercooked. The staff was nice enough to return it to the kitchen and was apologetic. But when it returned it was overcooked. The meat was tough and stringy.
We also ordered the hot and sour soup which was excellent so was the Steamed Scallops Dumplings.
The Steamed Pacific Garoupa with Superior Soy Sauce was another letdown. While the sauce was, well, superior in taste, the beautiful fish was overcooked. I was expecting it to be flaky, glistening and tender but it was almost...
