Thai Dara can be your go to place for home cooked style food that is both good and comforting. Their menu is quite expansive offering several thai delicacies with some of the familiar dishes as well as regional variations of the classics. Try and not be overwhelmed by the choices as they already highlight in their menu their best sellers as well as chefs’ recommendations. As first time visitors, we opted for the tom yum, pad thai, and pandan chicken. They were all simple but delicious dishes that made us smile. The soup was on the sweeter side which caters truly with the Filipino pallete. Pad thai was made fresh and served with 2 friend shrimp which sets it apart from others and lastly, the pandan chicken was tender and tasty served with a sweet chili dip. The food was not fine dining in any regard but it carries itself with its taste and authenticity. Will definitely be back to try out more of their dishes. Price point was pleasant surprise for us. The dishes were around Php 300 per order. Rice to be ordered separately as well as drinks.
Thai Dara is located within the Pioneer complex at the south side just along side several restaurants. The resto offers both indoor and outdoor seating although the space can be a bit narrow in between tables. Not too comfortable in accommodating big groups but best for pairs and groups of four which can...
Read moreI ordered their pad thai recently, which is allegedly one of the best ones in Metro Manila. The first thing I saw when I got my order was they served it with CALAMANSI, not LIME. I had a bad feeling about this already.
True enough, the pad thai was ordinary at best. It was far from tasting authentic. It tasted too sweet and no nuts mixed in or even a hint of the taste of nuts. The 2 pieces of shrimp were small, dry, and overcooked. Even the bean sprouts were spare. It was very unusual that it almost felt like something went wrong in the kitchen that particular day and time.
I have not tried this before so I am not sure if they changed up the recipe a lot since the time they were lauded for their pad thai but this definitely is not one of the best in Manila in my opinion. And for the price, you can find better ones.
P.S. On weekdays they close the resto from 2-4PM for their...
Read moreWe always eat here before doing our grocery at PC. Food is okay. Maybe a bit pricier for the quality. I always order the papaya salad. The curry dishes I've tried are a bit too greasy. Their Pad Thai is good. Thai milk tea is on the sweeter side, so I always end up adding more water to it.
I've noticed that this place never gets packed. Maybe that's why the aircon is always turned off. (To save on electricity cost.) On the upside, their staff is attentive and will refill your glass of water even if you don't ask them to. 4 stars for the staff.
I also like that they play Thai movies or music videos on their TV. You can eat here on your own and be...
