If you’re looking for a hotel that prioritizes profits over guest comfort, look no further than Red Planet Ortigas. While it may boast a decent location and affordable rates, the experience is sorely lacking in what most guests would consider basic hospitality.||1. No Complimentary Essentials – Even the Bare Minimum Comes at a Cost|Toothbrush? Toothpaste? Soap? Slippers? Forget about finding them neatly arranged in your room like in most hotels. At Red Planet, these essential items are not free — they’re sold at the front desk for ₱45. It feels more like checking into a budget hostel rather than a hotel that claims to offer quality service.||2. Room Key Cards — Only When You Ask|Even when the booking is clearly for two or more guests, the hotel only provides one room card — and that’s both for the door and to activate the room’s electricity. You’ll need to explicitly request for a second card, which should be a standard provision without needing to ask. It’s inconvenient and shows a lack of guest consideration.||3. Rigid Check-In Time with No Grace Period|Check-in time is strictly at 2:00 PM, and if you arrive earlier, you’re expected to pay extra. This is unreasonable, especially when the room you’re about to occupy is already available. A more guest-friendly approach would be to factor in the actual number of hours from check-in to check-out (12:00 noon the next day) — not penalize guests for arriving a little earlier.||4. No Intercom or Telephone in the Room|Need assistance? There’s no phone or intercom in the room to contact the front desk. You’ll have to go out of the room or use your personal phone. This is not just inconvenient — it’s a major service flaw and even a potential safety issue in case of emergencies.||5. No Free Breakfast — Not Even Instant Coffee|Unlike other hotels in the same price range, Red Planet offers no complimentary breakfast, not even a cup of coffee. Guests are left to find their own meals outside — again, reinforcing the impression that guest comfort is not a priority here.||Verdict:|Red Planet Ortigas feels more like a monetized machine than a hotel. Every small comfort has a price tag, and basic customer service standards seem like an afterthought. If you’re okay with paying extra for what should be complimentary — and don’t mind minimal support and inflexible policies — then maybe this place is for you. But if you're expecting decent hospitality and value for money, this hotel may just leave a stingy taste in your mouth. ||My wife, our child, and I had no choice but to check in after traveling 15 hours from our hometown. Being unfamiliar with the area, we just needed a place to rest. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointing experience — one that we’ll never forget. This is both the first and the last time we will stay at this hotel. I hope fellow travelers find this review helpful in making an...
Read moreHonest Review – Red Planet Hotel OrtigasI recently stayed at Red Planet Hotel Ortigas for 4 days. While I appreciate the affordability and acceptable room cleanliness, I was quite disappointed with several aspects of my stay.First, there’s no telephone in the rooms only one near the elevator. This is very inconvenient, especially when you need assistance. Although the staff were polite when spoken to directly, it was really hard to reach them via phone, and they were slow to respond when I had requests. I asked for a toothbrush to be delivered, but it never arrived, and I ended up checking out without it. I had to go out and buy one myself. There’s also no complimentary water service, which is usually expected in most hotels. And to add to my frustration, the internet wasn’t working during my entire stay I couldn’t even connect at all. That was a big inconvenience, especially for someone who relies on Wi-Fi for work or communication.Regarding cleanliness, it was okay overall, but the soap dispenser in my room was empty, and shockingly, the towel provided had bloodstains something that’s totally unacceptable for any guest.I also noticed a lack of hospitality from most of the staff. They barely greet guests upon entry or exit, and it honestly felt like they weren’t trained in proper customer service or guest care. However, I want to end this review by highlighting the one staff member who truly stood out in the hotel guard. He was consistently kind, respectful, and professional. He greeted me with a warm “Mabuhay” every time I entered or left the hotel and always opened the door for me. His presence made me smile, and I deeply appreciated his genuine hospitality and dedication.Overall, Red Planet Ortigas has a lot to improve, especially in customer service, communication systems (like adding in-room phones), guest support, and basic amenities like Wi-Fi and hygiene. Simple things like courtesy, responsiveness, and cleanliness go a long way in making a stay enjoyable and unfortunately, most of those were...
