I have never experienced discrimination until last Saturday, 9/21/2024, at around 8 PM. I was meeting someone at Packo's, who had already ordered food and drinks before I arrived. Upon my arrival, the security guard informed me, "Bawal po naka tsinelas" (slippers are not allowed). I was surprised, as I had visited the bar numerous times in similar footwear—this time, I was wearing Birkenstock sandals. I asked the guard when this policy had started, and he pointed to a sign dated August, stating: Men: No slippers/flip-flops Women: No slippers/flip-flops I informed the guard that I needed to let my friend know. After speaking with the waiter, we were granted permission to finish our meal quickly and leave. However, a few minutes later, the guard stood next to us and repeatedly insisted, "Ma'am, bawal po talaga naka tsinelas" (slippers really aren’t allowed). I told him, "I thought it was okay since the waiter allowed us to finish our order," and requested to speak with the manager. No manager came out. Instead, the guard returned with a pair of shoes and asked me to wear them. Shocked, I refused, citing hygiene concerns, and again asked for the manager. My companion went inside (we were seated at the al fresco area) spoke with the manager, who was also rude, so we decided to settle the bill. While waiting, I noticed another customer—a woman—wearing the exact same Birkenstock sandals I had on, just in a different color. I asked the guard why she was allowed inside, despite the policy. A parking attendant interjected, saying "Spartan and Beachwalk slippers are the ones prohibited for women." I questioned why the policy applied differently to me, and he responded, "So now you're a woman?" This was not only inappropriate but clearly discriminatory. The policy signage is clear—no slippers for men or women—yet I was treated differently based on assumptions about my gender and appearance. Such inconsistent enforcement of rules and discriminatory behavior from the staff, including the guard, parking attendant, and manager, is unacceptable, especially in the service industry. Policies should be applied equally to everyone, regardless of appearance, body type, or gender preference. As a loyal patron of this establishment since 2010 or 2011, I hope this issue is addressed promptly, and that staff receive the necessary training to ensure all customers are treated with respect and fairness. These staffs should merit...
Read moreNice place to hang out with great live entertainment. Wasn't able to try the food because the kitchen was closed already when we arrived (around 12am). Restrooms need to be maintained properly. For a big establishment with only 3 cubicles for ladies, they need to check and clean it often. Service is a bit slow. Not sure if it's because they don't have enough waiters for all of their guests or because where our table is situated. But even if I find it slow, the quality of service is great. Maybe they just need to be more alert or add more staff during peak days/hours. We will be back again (earlier this time) then I'll revise my review if the experience would be...
Read moreWe celebrated in the reserved room so I couldn't say much about the public area, but I had lots of fun. Karaoke, food, and their bottomless margarita was so delicious! I just wish that the reserved area would stay open longer as a perk if you purchased it, instead of it closing the same time as the grill. But oh well.
I highly recommend their bottomless margarita for anyone who tries this place. It may not be that fancy for most people but IT WAS PERFECT...
