For my mom’s 67th birthday, we had a mini celebration at Ramen Kuroda, SM Fairview branch. She had already enjoyed her main party the day before, so this was a more intimate date meal for just the two of us. Since it was a Saturday afternoon during peak hours, the restaurant was packed. We were second in line and had to wait for a table, but surprisingly, the wait time—including food service—was only around 15 minutes. Not bad, considering how busy they were. The service was decent, though nothing particularly noteworthy.

Now, onto the food. I ordered my usual tonkotsu ramen, but it was a bit underwhelming. They missed key ingredients like menma, black fungus, and narutomaki, which would have added more depth to the dish. The broth was just okay—comparable to other ramen spots in the Philippines—but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. There’s definitely room for improvement.

My mom, on the other hand, ordered the chicken karaage bento meal with ramen and absolutely loved it. The karaage was well-cooked, crispy on the outside, and paired perfectly with its flavorful sauce. The addition of salad and fresh fruits made it feel like a well-balanced and worthwhile meal. I also tried their California maki, which was delicious—though the sauce was slightly salty, the sushi itself was excellent.

Overall, I prefer Ramen Kuroda over Ramen Nagi, as I find the quality and taste better. I’ll definitely be back whenever my mom and I are craving...

Food – 5/5 The Ramen Kuroda set meal was amazing! I loved the ramen, sides, rice, fruits, and the tea. Everything was so well-balanced and flavorful. I just wasn’t sure if the fruits were refillable, like at other Japanese restaurants, but it was still a great touch. Plus, the food here is more affordable compared to other Japanese restaurants, which makes it even better!

Service – 4/5 The service was good, though the wait time was a bit long, especially during peak hours. We dined around lunch, so it was understandable, but still worth the wait. The staff were nice and accommodating, which made the experience pleasant.

Ambiance – 5/5 The restaurant had a nice vibe, and there’s a restroom inside for convenience. The overall atmosphere was cozy...

First time to eat on their branch at SM Fairview. The place is big and can accommodate a group of people. The ambiance is the same as their other branches. The staff are accommodating and approachable.

The food will be prepared upon order and they will serve it hot and newly cooked. The prices are reasonable and affordable as well. We always ordered their set meals on other branches and we tried their Pork Teriyaki and Chicken Karaage with both Kuro Ramen. We liked the set that we chose. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned.

We have a great experience here the same with their...
