I don't know what the 6% service charge is for when the service sucks. First time here at this branch today and I was really disappointed with the service.
When I came in to order, there weren't any customers. The female staff behind the counter didn't even greet me or anything, but I didn't mind. I was giving her my order but she wasn't responding. It turned out she wasn't going to accept orders and was calling another staff to take her place. She didn't even say anything to me, like one minute please or, sorry, someone will take your order.
I also noticed that when a couple of customers eventually arrived after me, the whole staff greeted them enthusiastically. How come I didn't receive that kind of welcome? I mean, I am not expecting that, but if you are going to give that reception to other customers, give it to everyone. Don't be selective.
Anyway, when the staff that was supposed to get the orders finally came, I gave her my order which was an iced latte worth P190. She told me that it was 140 plus pesos with the tax included. I had to correct her that the price on the menu is P190. She wasn't familiar with the price. She also had to ask me a few times details about my order. She seems to be having problems remembering my order which was a simple order. I got distracted twice in counting my money for my payment because she kept repeating her questions.
She gave me this round thing that vibrates and sounds when your order is ready for pick up. I didn't leave the pick up area but just waited there. When I saw that my order was finished, I realized that my round thing was not vibrating or making any sound, but I could see that the two staff who prepared my order was looking around for the customer who owns that coffee.
They finally asked me if I was number 6. I didn't even know that I was number 6. I thought the round thing was supposed to vibrate and make a sound when my order was ready. Ridiculous.
When I was having my coffee, I could hear the noisy banter of the staff. The staff were noisier than the customers. So unJapanese.
What a turn off this branch is. I am glad their other branches are not like this. I hope the management improves the...

Orders: π Matcha Banana Smoothie (P210) - It's def thicker than a usual latte but the consistency isn't really smoothie like. Banana overpowers the matcha to the point that u don't really taste it as much. Good thing the banana was really sweet π€Iced Hojicha Latte (P280) - rarely see hojicha so glad that they offer it here!! Nutty, roasty, and just the right sweetness. Good thickness to complement the nuttiness. Can imagine this would taste better with oat milk too! Has a light microfoam on top. A bit steep tho for the serving size but since I rarely get to order hojicha, I'm satisfied. Need to make sure to continously stir so it doesn't settle at the bottom
Notable Previous Orders: π¦ Mochi Soft Cream (P260) - Organic matcha or Hokkaido milk flavored soft cream in mochi sheet. Can be a bit difficult to penetrate thru the mochi (and messy since it might melt and overflow) but the ice cream is v smooth and creamy and matcha-y! The mochi also has the right thickness and chewiness π΅ Iced Matcha Latte (P280) - rich matcha latte with pasteurized milk. Straightforward match latte. Noticed this tasted better when they were newly opened in Mitsukoshi. For the price, can def get better matcha lattes
Notes: π‘ Wifi - mall free wifi β οΈ Sockets - a lot by the walls β¨οΈ Ambiance - warm and woodsy, kinda hot but good thing there are fans directed to the seating area (not the side with elevated seats tho) π½ Service - friendly staff, quick service. They give u a buzzer to claim ur order at the counter

Β Β Β Read moreWith all the hype happening on The Matcha Tokyo, I suddenly got interested in trying their products even though Iβm not a big fan of matcha. When I found out they opened a branch in Gateway Mall, I paid a visit.
Hereβs what I got: Ube Matcha Latte β±260 - πππππ Despite not being a fan of matcha drinks, I find their matcha latte acceptable to my taste buds (maybe because itβs 100% organic). Plus, the ube cream foam was nice and you can really taste the ube. Dorayaki β±150 - ππππ Itβs basically two pancakes with red beans and cream filling in between. The pancake is green, however, it tasted just like your regular pancake and I donβt feel any matcha taste in it. So, if youβre looking for βmatchaβ, this is a no for you. I enjoyed the red bean filling tho, since itβs not sweet and the cream was perfect and had a slightly salty taste. Matcha Milk Jam Croffle β±250 - πππππ This tasted so good! Served warm and crispy. On a pricier side but itβs definitely worth a try!
