I tried lunch here and was mostly happy. They have a very extensive Japanese menu and I was mostly lost. I am definitely not a sushi fan. I tried the shrimp tempura as an appetizer and the 3 shrimp were very good, light and with minimal grease. They were good enough that I forget to take a picture untill they were half gone! I tried something new for the meal, Oyako Teishoku. It came as a set with rice, miso soup, salad and some kimchee. Everything was great, except I am not a fan of sweet in my main course, unless it's something like sweet and sour pork or the like. That was my fault, I later looked up a recipe and found it included brown sugar. Next time I will try something else! But I will try again. BTW, I was surprised at the low rating for this place. When I see low star reviews, I always look to see how many reviews that person has posted. If fewer than 5 or 10, many times one, I discount those reviews as possible hit pieces. Sometimes even faked by competition! No surely not :-(. You pay your money and take...
Read moreThe quality of the ramen leaves a lot to be desired. The chashu was firm, chewy and full of fat. The noodles were more like what you find in instant ramen, kinda soft and did not have that satisfying bite to it. The broth was pretty good at least. Tempura was standard fare. Salmon and tuna sashimi were okay, not the best and you can feel some sinew from the salmon. Takoyaki was good, with a nice variety from their all star sampler. Minus points for the service since our waiter completely forgot our order of tempura after we specifically reminded him he forgot about it when he repeated our order. It would have been an expensive meal but fortunately we had a 50% discount from their credit card promo. At the discounted price it was just okay, but at full price it's...
Read moreOne of the few Japanese restaurants with so many items on their menu, it took us literally quite some time to choose our food. I guess it was ok since the place wasn't that busy even during dinner time. We ordered Pork Belly Okosoba, Grilled BBQ pork rice bowl Hokkaido style and Chicken Karaage. I'd say we got 2 of 3 right. The pork belly rice bowl was very good and filling at the same time. My little one also enjoyed his Karaage. Sadly the Okosoba wasn't for us. The whole thing was too mushy. It was like a half cooked pancake with moist Yakisoba noodles inside. The mayonnaise topping didn't help and to be honest made it even messier to eat. I think they should experiment with new dishes and make crispy versions of their Okosoba. Who knows it might become their...
