Had a great time at Burnt Bean! It was our first time there and it didn’t disappoint.
Place and Ambience: We arrived around 7PM on Aug 28 which is a holiday so despite it being a Monday, the place was quite packed. With that, the only inside seats available are the ones by the bar so we took it. The high chair was comfortable so enjoyed our seats. The tables are not too close to each other, allowing for people to still comfortably move around. The interiors and lighting was just enough to give that subtle but sophisticated restobar vibe. The restroom door knob needs some attention - I am sure I locked it cause I checked it twice after entering the restroom, but another person was able to open it from outside when I was about to use the urinal.
Service: Jerameel, the barista on duty, was kind enough to entertain our curious questions about the drinks he was preparing. He sounded confident as he answered us and looked skillful as he prepared cocktails, while still ensuring that he converse and check with us if we’re OK. The other crew members who assisted us were also nice and attentive.
Food and Drinks: Food was superb! We have 3 dishes and 1 cocktail from their menu.
Peruvian Chicken - it tasted authentic and was enjoyable. I liked the charring on the chicken skin, just enough to give it that smoky grilled taste that complements the rice and other side dishes that come with it.
Panang Beef Curry - their take on the beef curry is clever and quite tasty. The beef slices were done medium well which is how I like it. It wasn’t mixed with the curry sauce like how usual beef curries are. Instead, they are put on top of the rice and covered with fried onion slices which are also a great addition to the dish.
Potato Pave - we were intially told that this item is already sold out for the day (their menu say they only serve 30 sets of it a day). With that, we were not expecting we’ll be able to try it anymore. Thankfully, we were advised by one of the servers that another batch became available for us to enjoy so we jumped right in a ordered it. The thin slices of potato carefully layered and pressed on top of each other were cooked perfectly. The bacon fat foam serves as dipping sauce and pairs perfectly well with the potato slices. It definitely lived up to the vibe.
Bramble - I appreciate that Jerameel asked me what my preference is for cocktails so that he can recommend which one to order., He recommended Bramble. I loved the tanginess of the lemon juice and sweetness of the creme de mure, ticking both boxes in my cocktail...
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Burnt Bean in Bonifacio Global City, and it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for a memorable meal.
The menu at Burnt Bean offers a delightful fusion of flavors, with dishes that are beautifully crafted and bursting with taste. I had the pleasure of trying their Potato Pavé, Butter Crab Pasta, and Australian Lamb Ribs, and each dish was a culinary masterpiece. The Potato Pavé was perfectly cooked, with layers of tender potatoes that melted in my mouth. The Butter Crab Pasta was rich and flavorful, with a creamy sauce that complemented the succulent crab meat. And the Australian Lamb Ribs were cooked to perfection, with a smoky and tender texture that left me craving for more.
To complement the delicious food, I also enjoyed a refreshing summer time cocktail. The mixologist at Burnt Bean knows how to create the perfect blend of flavors, and the cocktail was a delightful addition to the meal. It was the perfect way to cool down and enjoy the vibrant flavors of summer.
One thing that stood out during my dining experience was the friendly and accommodating nature of the owners. They went above and beyond to ensure that every guest felt welcomed and taken care of. Their passion for food and hospitality was evident in every interaction, and it added an extra layer of warmth to the dining experience.

Read moreHad a bad experience with their service at the Podium branch but decided to give them a second chance at the BGC branch.
Unfortunately, didn’t even get far enough to visit because the process of just getting a table booked has been one of the worst.
First, nobody ever picks up the phone or responds in any way. Be prepared if you want to contact them, you will be trying for hours. The first time we tried to go to the BGC branch a few weeks ago, we never got a response to our calls and ended up going somewhere else.
This time, I finally managed to get someone on the line and asked to reserve a table for 12:15 PM - no issues, she said it was confirmed.
All good? No - I get a call back a little while later saying actually they have set seating times at 11 AM or 1 PM so my requested time won’t work. A bit annoying, but I accepted it and said to book from 1 PM.
I called again one more time because someone advised us to reserve the Potato Pave since it has limited quantities. The girl I talked to confirmed our 1 PM table and also accepted the request to reserve a Potato Pave.
Thought all was good at this point, but no.
I am texted a 3rd time late at night (SMS when the communication this whole time has been over Whatsapp) saying reservations require a deposit per person now and that the Potato Pave is first come first serve and we can’t actually advance order it. So why confirm it in the first place? And why change the communication method? I already have issues receiving SMS, what if I missed this?
I really hope people don’t start taking this as acceptable/normal service in Manila because this was the worst and messiest experience ever.
Also to require a deposit for this kind of restaurant experience? I understand restaurants that have very limited seating or maybe have small seasonal menus, etc. But for a regular restaurant on High Street? Lmao please. I’ve booked at better places that never asked me for a deposit. Worst case, after a 15 minute grace period, they just release the table. This feels like some ego trip.
And the staff who keep changing what they tell customers just destroys the trust in what the restaurant says. I wouldn’t be surprised if we showed up and they somehow don’t have our booking.
Would not recommend trying to come here...
