• Ambience: Place is chic and modern. Quite an impressive combination of modern and classic design.

• Service: We were able to ask for a reservation and were warmly welcomed by the staff when we arrived around 12pm. We were ready to order and RJ, who was our server that time, was prompt enough to take note of our choices. The waiting time was quite long but it’s understandable considering that all the food was obviously made fresh upon order. However, in between our meals, random requests like water and additional orders were not attended immediately. We had to call their attention more than once considering that the place was not that full that time. They seem to be so busy that they could not attend to additional services in between taking orders and billing out. When it comes to the attitude, I can say that Danny, RJ, and another staff member with no name plate exuded exemplary customer service. It showed that they did the best that they could to give an above par customer experience.

• Food- I personally love Thai food and I can say that most of the food we ordered are extraordinary and beyond the usual Thai food we order in ordinary Thai restaurants in the Metro. It was obvious that the food preparation was carefully made and great effort was put into each one of the dishes. Servings are quite small but the taste made the prices quite reasonable for me.

• Fave- Tom Yum! I may be biased but I loved that the combination of sweet and sour was well blended. It was more of the sour taste but not overpowering making me enjoy every sip of the soup and crave for some more.

Our orders:

Chicken Pandan- i seldom order this as I find it so common. But this one did not disappoint as it is so juicy even on the inside

Pomelo Salad w/ Shrimp 450 - sauce used was quite salty but the mix of pomelo, herbs, and shrimp is just perfect

Tom Yum Seafood 580 - my favorite as described above

Spicy and Tangy Thai Spareribs 780 - our least favorite. It’s juicy but not soft and quite hard to cut and eat

Pad Thai with Soft-Shell Crab 790 - i loved that soft shell crab mixed with the pad thai with the right amount of spicy taste

Thai Egg Fried Rice 480 - loved this as well. I enjoyed it on its own without eating it with other food that we ordered

Stir Fried Mixed Vegetables 450 - simple yet perfectly cooked. Vegetables are still crunchy and I can distinguish the natural taste of all the vegetables

Mango Sticky Rice - seems like they used brown rice. Not the common taste of the usual mango sticky rice we can buy everywhere. I enjoyed it with just the right amount of coconut cream. Not too sweet so it’s easy to finish and perfectly ends the meal as dessert

• Location- easy to find, parking’s not a problem since they it’s very near High Stree Central Square

• Value for money: 👍👍 2/3

• Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 worth...

After a recent event, with appetites still somewhat subdued but a craving for Pad Thai taking hold, my wife and I found ourselves at Mango Tree in BGC. The restaurant's elegant facade and sophisticated interior immediately set a tone of high-end dining, sparking that familiar pre-dinner anxiety about the final bill. The ambiance was indeed impressive, exuding a sense of class that suggested a memorable culinary experience awaited.

We settled on a few classic Thai dishes to satisfy our craving: Pad Thai with shrimp, Chicken Satay, and Thai Milk Tea. The Pad Thai, the main event for me, was a bit of a letdown. While the flavors were decent, the execution left something to be desired. The noodles were noticeably overcooked, lacking the firm, springy texture I'd hoped for. The shrimp, a crucial component, were disappointing as they consisted mostly of heads rather than succulent, meaty bodies. This left me feeling that for the price, the quality wasn't quite there. My mind couldn't help but wander to the Pad Thai at Soi Chicken, a more humble establishment where the noodles are always perfectly cooked and the flavors are consistently excellent, all at a more palatable price point.

However, the other dishes we ordered offered a glimmer of hope. The Chicken Satay was a definite highlight. The chicken skewers were tender and perfectly grilled, but the real star was the peanut sauce. It was rich, creamy, and had a perfect balance of sweet and savory notes that elevated the entire dish. This success with the grilled item made me wonder if Mango Tree's strengths lie more in their barbecue and grilled offerings. The Thai Milk Tea also delivered, providing a sweet and creamy respite from the savory dishes. Its authentic flavor was a welcome treat, and it was clear that as a beverage, it stood out.

As anticipated, the bill was on the higher side, a common reality for dining in BGC. While the ambiance and service were impeccable, the food itself was a mixed bag. The Pad Thai, my primary reason for visiting, fell short of expectations, particularly when a more affordable and superior alternative like Soi Chicken exists. The Chicken Satay and Thai Milk Tea, on the other hand, were fantastic. I might return to Mango Tree to explore other dishes, perhaps their grilled specialties, but when a strong craving for Pad Thai strikes and my hunger is at its peak, I'll likely find myself heading to Soi Chicken for a more satisfying and economical meal. Mango Tree offers a great atmosphere, but the culinary experience itself feels a bit inconsistent, and for the price, one hopes for perfection...

Mango Tree offers a great atmosphere, but the culinary experience itself feels a bit inconsistent, and for the price, one hopes for perfection across the board.
