Wanted to try misto because of an influencer - hello mga ka-local - but boy was i in for a big disappointment. So here are a few tips to make your lunch experience a little better.
Tip 1: As soon as the buffet opens, the first thing you should hoard are the ripe mangoes at the dessert table. They will not refill the ripe mangoes once emptied. And i guess it is because they are very expensive so hoard if you like ripe mangoes.
Tip 2: Call ahead to ask if the lobster and US tenderloin are available at the grilling station. I was unfortunate to have experienced this… they didn’t have both. Imagine only being allowed to order once at the grilling station and not being able to order the best. Whichever you pick DO NOT order the Curacha. It is hard to eat and had very little meat.
Tip 3: They only serve 3 kinds of sushi, but you can ask the staff for sashimi and they will bring that to your table.
Tip 4: Do the seafood sauté and laksa stations LAST. I was one of the first three to order in both stations, and not only did I get my orders 30-40 mins later but they got my orders wrong. So instead, let the crowd go first and only make your order when you see the stations free and insist on waiting for your order.
Tip 5: Dress light. I was sweating in the first hour of my lunch. It was warm.
No coffee or soft drinks included. No carving station so don’t expect roasts or steaks or turkey or lechon or ham. Nada. No gyoza, no tempura - but apparently they change their food time to time. Chambahan lang.
Staff is 5-stars, very responsive!!! Add ₱150-200 at least as a tip because their service charge is super low.
Would I recommend? You can try ONCE. Would I return? Hard NO unless a friend...
Read moreGiving Misto at Seda an acceptable three. Straight threes across food, service, and atmosphere.
For context, we stayed in Seda BGC which had breakfast included.
Given that we stayed in the hotel, we wore comfortable clothes for breakfast. Comfortable meaning tank top, gym shorts, and slippers. We were refused entry by the lady Suzaine because of our appearance. She said sleevless shirts and slippers aren’t allowed. I was baffled as I didn’t see them in the printed guidelines provided. We went back up to change.
I re-read the guidelines which said no sleepwear, swimwear, jersey shirts, and bedroom slippers. Upon our return, I mentioned this to Suzaine. She repeated the rules she mentioned earlier. I found the rules absurd as I have stayed in other hotels in and out of the country and never encountered such strict guidelines. For breakfast dining, at least. To add insult to the injury, there were others wearing slippers in Misto. Noticing my displeasure, the manager intervened and apologized.
So on to the ambiance - it was okay. A bit cramped, but okay. They could probably widen the pathways for diners getting food. Design wise Misto was modern with nice lighting. I appreciated the brightness of the space.
As for the food, good variety with an acceptable quality. I liked the Spanish bread in the bread section. The noodle section was good too. The Filipino breakfast items were lacking though. The beef tapa was a bit too salty for my liking and their bacon was bordering on burnt. I was pleasantly surprised with the taho.
Will I come back? Well maybe if I stay in Seda BGC again. Will just make sure I wear...
Read moreMisto is a must if you are looking for a lunch buffet in a hotel around BGC area. Comparing it with other BGC hotels, this one is more affordable but the quality is still the same in my opinion. The only difference I guess is the variety of choices. But the essentials are of course present like Japanese station, carving station, seafood, Pinoy food, fruits, cakes and ice cream. I particularly loved the Lechon Kawali and biryani rice combo. The rice was so fragrant and flavorful. The beef short rib was fall off the bones and the meat was sweet and Smoky. Make sure to save some space for dessert. I highly recommend mango sago, vanilla pudding and leche flan. If you are thirsty, just ask for their coffee and skip all the juices, they are way too sweet. Kudos to their very friendly waitresses, my 1 year old was all smiles...
