Modern Shang is improving compared to the first few times that we ordered for delivery and dined in.
What went well:
-They finally put some Al fresco chairs that are super comfy. We can finally bring our dog and enjoy the breeze at night.
They set up al fresco after they fixed the exhaust problem of the building and that’s great.
-They improved their food compared to the first time that it felt like it wasn’t up to standard.
To be fair, the dishes we had so far except for chili wanton were all good.
-Mark, our server is a great guy. He takes care of us despite being situated in Al fresco.
-For some reason I like the Shanghai lily drink. It’s a pretty unique and refreshing drink.
And their free hot tea is really good. Our server left the teapot by the table because we loved it.
What needs improvement?
-I think the chili wanton needs a little more work. It’s not as good as the one from Venice branch.
We shared this feedback to them and I’m hoping it improves.
-If you got used to the xiao long bao of neighboring Chinese restos in BGC, you’d normally assume that you won’t pierce the cover so easily.
But in Modern Shang, it breaks easily. The taste is great, no doubt about it. I’m just saying be careful when you pick it up with your chopsticks.
-They did not have the specific dish that my parents wanted and it was not crossed out of the menu.
Hoping they’d just say it upfront next time.
But overall, we enjoyed our recent visits and we look forward to enjoy dinner again at...
Read moreA dinner at 8:30pm on last Friday, I wanna comment a few things here. First, the young ladies in red and the young ladies in white are friendly and patience. Providing their services with smiles. Good. But the lady in gray, she came to us and rush us to order . She didn’t even ask if we are ready to order. she just said “ what do u want to order “ with impolite manners. I was thinking are they going to close soon or is it the last order? It’s just 8:30 pm. And she didn't even informed us how long we need to wait. Too long of waiting. Bad experience . Secondly, we order Hunan style beef, seafood fried rice and Xiaolong bao. the Xiaolong bao is good. However, the seafood fried rice is not hot at all. It just likes a mixed rice. The chowking fried rice is even better than them. Also, we ordered the fried rice is "to share"-498 php which is the largest. But it is smaller than the next table for four people. I wonder if “ to share” means the size is depended on the amount of people? We paid the same price but having different size of food? Not good at all. For the HuNan beef, it is fine but too salty. Can’t image how they cooked it. Just hope they can pay more attention to their...

You have an EXTREME DISCRIMINATOR of a manager in your establishment. I dined with family a few days ago and everything was okay. After paying, I decided to sit down on one of their chairs outside to rest a bit because I was too full to move. A few minutes later, your manager(I'm assuming it's the manager because of she was the only one wearing a black attire while everyone else was wearing white) approached me and asked me with the MOST CONDESCENDING tone, "May kailangan kayo?"
Excuse me? Did you just profile me as some sort of squatter? I literally just exited your establishment after paying and this is how you treat me for resting a bit outside? napaka BASTOS. You could have asked your waiting staff first if the guy outside's a customer before taking action.
Bistro Group please do something about this. You shouldn't be tolerating this kind of behavior especially from your managers.
And to the lady manager, I hope they do something about your behavior. The way you handled the situation is so poor that it makes me want to file a complaint just to...
