TLDR: Food wasn’t that good and service is not consistent, given some people had good reviews.
We’ve been wanting to try Nono’s for a while. But it was a let down.
My partner ordered fried chicken and it wasn’t that good, like the batter was thick and it was cooked hours earlier and they didn’t even bother to reheat or re-fry it (Perhaps, the order was made earlier by mistake, and they put it aside, hoping someone would order again. Which we did!) Homemade chips on the side were not all crisp (were oily like they were fried in big batches and were not cooked evenly).
I ordered roast beef and actually liked it, but was fatty (not a fan of). Sourdough pizza was so-so (definitely we had better ones at Gino’s). Also we can see some parts of the dough was not cooked very well in the middle.
The service was terrible. The food (fried chicken) was served before they gave us some cutleries. I had to ask someone for that, too! Sadly, the server didn’t bother to check first. Unfortunately our servers, didn’t seem that friendly or accommodating though (given that the dining wasn’t full house yet, I’d understand if they were too busy or understaffed).
Also, we wanted to order banana cream pie but was told it was not available. When we finished eating, I thought of checking the pastry stand for other desserts, and I saw half banana cream pie lying unordered! At first, I thought it was reserved. Buy when I checked if I can have one for to go, the server said yes. Thinking we were given wrong info before, I decided not to push it anyway.
I know there were a lot of good reviews for Nono’s and we’re hoping to get the same kind of experience, but we’re really disappointed and decided not to come back anymore. Maybe weren’t lucky that day. But good service should be consistent or at least the food could have the same standard all the time.
We’d rather stick with Manam for casual Filipino foods.
P.S. I worked in casual dining for 5 years, so I pretty much have an idea of how things work. Some of my theories about the food preparation and them being understaffed could be wrong, but these should not be an excuse for our overall bad...
Read moreAfter an awesome 8km run around BGC, we saw Nono's. So we went in and dined. This will be my first time eating at Nono's if ever. They ordered the Homestyle Fried Chicken-Solo, since it was their best seller I think. Then I ordered the Pork Belly Balsamic Adobo-Solo.
Wow loved the food! I don't why but i really liked the adobo. The chicken was good too it was soft and crunchy, it is best dipped in honey. The solo plate serving was just enough for us. We were just 3 40yr old adults. 1 male and 2 females.
I thought it was over but they want dessert. They ordered the Nono's Chocolate Oblivion and paired it with a vanilla ice cream, My Gad, it was fantastic. Tastes just right and so good. The 8km run that we did suddenly was nonsense. 😅
When i got home, I told my Mom about it, and she wants to go there tomorrow immediately for dinner. So... In my 2nd visit (the next day) this is what we ordered. The Roasted Beef Belly, it was tender and juicy. Best if you smear it with horseradish cream on top that came with it when consumed. The mashed potatoes was so tasty as well Pesto Cream with Grilled Chicken-Solo. Sister ordered this, It was okay I liked it but a little salty for me. But eat it with bread makes a difference. I don't know why. Chicken Lettuce Wrap. They like it but not for me. Pork Belly Balsamic Vinegar-Solo, my Mom ordered this because I told her I loved it so much. But ended up finishing it for her because she likes the Chicken Lettuce Wrap more.. Haha Bacon and Eggs for my niece. It was basic since it was just bacon and eggs. But it's been a long time since I ate bacon. So when I asked for a small part of the bacon. It was a heavenly taste. Crispy and bacony..
So that is my experience at Nono's. Service was great. All servers are all smiles, especially the girls. Ambiance was great. Water has lemon in it.. And i almost forgot. Their restroom, It was clean and it has a BIDET. That's always a 5-star 🌟 for me, "Bidet in the restroom"
Might eat again at Nono's soon, I really liked...
Read moreRestaurant Review for Nonos BGC:**
I recently visited Nono’s BGC with high expectations, especially since I wanted to impress my friends visiting from London. Unfortunately, the experience left me feeling embarrassed and frustrated. Whilst the food itself was acceptable( except the Philippine adobo- which is very oily, corn cobs with no salt or butter) the service was a complete letdown.
The biggest issue was the pacing of the orders. Dishes arrived one at a time, with significant delays between each. One of our orders came so late that my friend had to eat alone while the rest of us waited, trying to be polite and eat together. By the time all the food was on the table, our meals had gone cold, which really took away from the dining experience.
The staff seemed disorganised which was surprising given the restaurant’s otherwise cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Given the abundance of other dining options in BGC with both great food and excellent service, I don’t see myself returning to Nono’s BGC. The overall experience was too disappointing, and I’d rather spend my time and money at places that value their customers’ time and dining experience. Hopefully, they can improve their operations, but for now, I’ll be exploring other choices...
