Gerry’s Grill is conveniently located at the corner of Burgos Square, just across from the Metropolitan Cathedral. As you enter, there’s a small waiting area, followed by a striking painting of Christ crowned with thorns, accompanied by lit candles—a poignant touch, especially with Easter having just passed two days ago.
The interior has a rustic charm, featuring red-tiled floors and brick archways that have been converted into cozy dining nooks. The space appears to have been adapted from old cellars, giving it a warm, slightly enclosed feel.
We were seated near the kitchen hatch, which unfortunately affected the ambience somewhat, as it became a busy spot with waiters constantly picking up dishes and returning used plates.
The start of our meal was a bit disappointing—several items we had hoped to try were unavailable, including the crispy kangkong, the Inihaw na Pusit (grilled squid), and its baby squid version.
On the bright side, the calamansi juice was refreshing and well-balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness to complement the lime’s natural tartness.
The beef kare-kare was a highlight. The peanut sauce was well-executed—rich without being cloying—and the meat was tender. However, the inclusion of soft, boiled beef skin might not appeal to everyone.
The Tortang Talong—a smoked aubergine omelette—was certainly unique. It had a deeply smoky flavor and a flat, thin texture that might not be to everyone’s taste and also tasted better without the dry fish paste condiment.
Service was decent. Staff were upfront about the potential wait time for food, which was...
Read moreFood is excellent but parking attendant could use a little customer service skills. Pag nag slow down na ang customer sa harap ng place niyo, ask them agad if they're dining in and offer your parking space - lalo kung malakas ang ulan. We love Gerry's Grill especially their Pampanga branches so when we visited my partner's fam in Ilocos, we opted to have dinner here so they can try it, too. The food did not disappointment. Consistent sa sisig and other signature dishes like kare-kare and pusit. 2300php for 7 persons is a very reasonable price for the quality. It was raining hard when we arrived around 6PM. We already know that they have parking space for customers at front so we slowed down as we approach. There are 2 guys out there na nakatingin lang kahit ibinaba na passenger seat window. Not easy to ask them kasi the rain is pouring hard and we were not sure kung staff ba sila or not. We had to park somewhere else. Pagbalik namin sa restau, they are still standing at front at sabi lang ay pasok...
Read moreThis is probably one of the best restaurants around. If you're looking for a more formal setting with well family executed dishes, I highly recommend coming here. The food is flavourful and delicious. Yes, the prices are on the higher side (for Vigan), and sure, you can find great meals elsewhere for less, even street food, but this place is more about the full experience, including the service, and it's worth it. The building is like old brick place! Even with an internal fountain.
We enjoyed everything overall. The only downside was the welcome: the host didn’t seem very attentive when we arrived, and we had to approach her ourselves to ask for a table. But once we were seated, the service improved significantly, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere, perfect for family, friends, or couples.
There were great options on the menu, and we even received complimentary potato chips while waiting for our food, which was a nice touch. The wait was totally fine because the food was...
