Fuego — Restaurant in Gdansk

The reviews and photos raise our expectations too high for the experience that we’ve had. Yes, the place looks nice, and the food is decent. But the service isn’t there yet.

We arrived at 7:30 p.m. and asked for a table. There were about 70% empty tables, but the staff told us that they were fully booked and would have a table for us in 20 minutes. We agreed to wait and left a phone number. No one called us, so we decided to call them back in an hour. Now they have a table for us. When we came, there were still 25% empty tables, so we waited for no reason.

The waiting game didn’t end up here. Making an order took us 20 min more just because it was impossible to catch our waitress. We ordered wine and starters to share because we already knew that it would take hours to get mains.

After 50 minutes of waiting with no drinks or water, we finally got 1/2 glasses of vine. Because waitress misheard the order and also they were out of the vine that we ordered at first. We got food soon after that but it took an hour of sitting at the empty table in the cold restaurant. Please can someone explain to me why it was that cold?

Restauracja Fuego prezentuje się na pierwszy rzut oka jako aspirujące miejsce z ambicjami serwowania kuchni inspirowanej Hiszpanią. Wnętrze przyjemne, obsługa wyjątkowo uprzejma i sprawna – kelnerzy zasługują na pochwałę za tempo i zaangażowanie, a czas oczekiwania na dania był zaskakująco krótki. Niestety, to, co trafiło na talerze, pozostawiło wiele do życzenia.

Zamówienie na trzy osoby wyniosło ponad 400 zł, więc oczekiwania wobec jakości były naturalnie wysokie. Niestety, karta menu sprawia wrażenie nieprzemyślanej i niespójnej. Wśród tapas wyróżniły się jedynie krewetki w cieście oraz kalmary – świeże, dobrze usmażone i przyjemne w smaku. Reszta? Niestety mocno przeciętna. Dodanie ogromnej ilości batatów do kilku pozycji wyglądało jak tanie wypełnienie talerza. Jedno z dań – niezidentyfikowany składnik w panierce, być może ryba – było wręcz nieprzyjemne w odbiorze.

Deska tapas z czterema sosami to ciekawy koncept, ale jego realizacja wypada słabo. Oceniłbym ją na 2/10 – brakuje balansu smaków, a prezentacja nie ratuje ogólnego wrażenia.

Z dań głównych: szaszłyk z krewetką i batatem – całkowicie nietrafiony, bez głębi smaku. Natomiast stek z kalmara zasługuje na uznanie – dobrze przygotowany, z ciekawą strukturą i smakiem. Sałatka z łososiem była poprawna – nic wyjątkowego, ale też bez większych zastrzeżeń.

Fuego ma potencjał, ale wymaga zdecydowanego dopracowania menu – zarówno pod względem jakości składników, jak i kompozycji dań. W Trójmieście jest kilka hiszpańskich restauracji w podobnym przedziale cenowym, które oferują znacznie wyższy poziom kulinarny. Jeśli nie zostaną wprowadzone zmiany, goście mogą zacząć wybierać choćby Montownię – co samo w sobie powinno być dla Fuego sygnałem alarmowym.

Zachęcam właścicieli do kuchennej rewolucji – bo przy tak dobrej obsłudze i lokalizacji, szkoda byłoby...

Very rude staff. At the entrance there was the most strange situation when the server (judging by the accent from Ukraine) did not understand either Polish or English and refused to serve,. After that the whole evening was served by a nice lady trying to correct the situation. The cuisine itself is very strange because the usual green onions served under a sauce with huge chunks of pepper, from which then strange sensations on the teeth is not the most...
