The place is lovely, the hostess and waiting staff were all not too busy (place mostly empty) apart from us there were around two tables. We were offered a seat inside or in the garden. We chose the garden, which is very lovely. The quality of the garden furniture was not very good. I would expect better seating from a heart-of-the-city type of restaurant with a relatively expensive menu. We were served by two waiters, one took care of the drinks and the second one took our meal orders. We ordered raspberry and later passion fruit lemonade for drinks. It was extremely good, probably one of the best so far in our experience with lemonades in Kazimierz. We were not surprised by that as their bar is impressive and well supplied. We ordered 2 servings of ribs, a chicken fillet and a New York Steak, and here comes the disappointment. The size of the portions was good and the sides for ribs were excellent, the sweet potato fries with parmigiano were amazing. The ribs not the prime ribs, closer to bacon part of the rib cage based on colours and texture. One portion was slightly burned and the second undercooked, as shown in the photos. Our waiter had no knowledge of allergens within the bbq sauce and just said it’s a “secret recipe”. In his defense, he asked the kitchen later on but was unable to explain anyways, we suspect he is new so we were more lenient. The chicken was disappointing, the meat itself was properly done but the side of gratin was completely inedible, basically a soggy overcooked (boiled?!) chopped potato with additional ingredients which is absolutely not what a gratin is. All I can say for my steak experience, is that it was a complete disaster. I ordered medium rare, received pretty much “mixed” between well-done, medium-rare and medium depending on the spot I checked. The meat was uneven and had a lot of bad parts like ligaments and tendons. Halfway through the steak, it started tasting like it was soaked with dish soap flavour and I’m not kidding here. The sauce was beyond terrible, tasted over-burnt or simply old. The potato wedges were tasty but the carrots were plain. As a 149 pln dish it was absolutely unacceptable. When the waiter arrived we shared our concerns, the steak was returned to kitchen. I stated that I don’t want anything else, just that the dish was unacceptable. Waiter took our feedback and hurried to the kitchen. Head chef did not appear to discuss my concerns which is surprising but we believe our waiter might have not been the best at relying information we shared. I was informed that the dish was removed from our check and that they would like to offer me a free of charge dessert. I selected the New York cheesecake and it was moist and tasty, very fluffy and extremely sweet which was ok based on my experience with overpriced desserts. The waiter was really concerned but not hesitant to speak with us and take the feedback, that’s why we decided to tip him the standard 10%. In general this place is a huge disappointment and I would never go there for regular price dining, even not Finebite discount would...
Read moreSaturday night I visited the bar in the hotel/restaurant. The place is nice and Julia behind bar was great. However, that evening I left my jacket there. I went the next day to pick up my jacket and when I arrived I asked the young man behind the bar about my jacket. He said he remembered seeing jacket this morning when he arrived to work. At this time the older man with gray hair arrived (I think he was a bartender or manager) and interrupted our conversation by asking the younger man if he was at the bar the night I left my jacket in very rude way, he said no. So the older man said: how do you know about the jacket if you were not here. I don't think he heard the younger man telling me when I first arrived that he saw my jacket, he also described by jacket so I knew my jacket was there. At this point I asked again to check if my jacket was there, the older man was very rude and ignorant he kept telling me that the jacket wasn't there. I was able to see that the younger man was getting irritated by this old man, maybe he was a manager. I didn't insist since the jacket I left was old but it had some sentimental value. Be aware of this older guy, very unprofessional, unpleasant and shady, stay away from this place when he is working. So sad that nice place has employees like...
Read moreNow before we arrived in Kraków I researched a few places to eat and this was one of those places I saved solely based on buffet breakfast. Wish I hadn't. I'd not normally do buffets and now I remember why. Was just for something simple on our first morning there. Now we payed 210 zloty for 3 of us, £42, our most expensive and largely our worst in the 12 nights we were there and I'll add the previous 19 we've stayed in Kraków in the past. You could tell it was a buffet and bacon and eggs were very poor, clearly sitting out for some time, fruit was either dry or as in water melon, way too soft, just mushy. Cappuccino was a disaster if you could even call it that. On a saving plus note and as to why I give 3 stars, my wife had the fish and also ordered an omelette which she was happy with. I hate being critical but I can't ignore the dissatisfaction of this breakfast. Clearly I wouldn't return but I'll not try to dissuade others from...
