"THE BEST PIZZA OF YOUR LIFE", it says in bold right at the top of the menu, and I'm inclined to agree(until I make a trip to Italy). My virgin experience at @placekwolnica was the Nduja pie, and there's not a thing I would change about it. This is pizza par excellence, a vibrant pastiche of abstract art beckoning you with splashes of red, white and green in a leopard spotted crust. The premium Fior di Latte Mozarella from esteemed Agerola cows is a great cheese for pizza – creamy, flavourful and with an elasticity and stringiness that gives you the perfect cheese pull. Splotches of spicy, meaty nduja, tangy slivers of pickled shallot and the freshness evoked from torn basil added bags of flavour. What stole the show, and what in my mind separates a great pizza from the good, was the crust. Immaculately timed and cooked to perfection, the lightly charred and puffed crust was light and airy, with just the right amount of bite and chew without being too dense. It beats any "artisanal" pizza restaurant or pizzeria I've been to so far, and I have eaten...
Read moreJust an average pizza experience when it comes to flavor balancing, cooking and service.
The dough is thin but it’s too soft, far from the authentic Italian pizza with their hard flour and rich ingredients.
The pizza here seems to be sold at a higher price due to it’s a hot tourist corner rather than due to the food flavor.
The waiting time is boring, approx. 30-40 min., leaves of rucola were served scarcely, without leaving a hint of generous Italian cuisine impression. We had to add salad ourselves to let it look a bit more than just a piece of dough :)
To crown it all, they serve a few sorts of beer in plastic glasses at a price of a bottle of Italian or Portuguese white wine which makes sense: you’re getting hungrier and more drunk while drinking and waiting for the food and surely, then you’ll get back for another pizza ))))
Sorry, there’re other places farther from tourist center serving a great deal better pizza in Krakow.
All in all a one-time experience for a couple of friends focused on beer drinking and chatting rather than a...
Read moreStaff are awesome and the food comes out hot and fast. Maybe too fast. Keep in mind, this is a pizza review coming from a native NYer and this isn’t meant to be NY style. That said, the center is soggy straight from the oven. Perhaps more time at a slightly lower temperature would be a solution. The ingredients are good, and other than being soggy and chewy, the crust is tasty. Some ingredient combos are odd, but if it tastes good a little odd is hot. Plus they have a great, frequently changing, albeit a bit small beer selection.
Fixing the soggy problem would earn it more stars for sure.
Also, to all you people out there: pizzas are meant to be folded, not eaten with a knife and fork like a weirdo.
Edit: in response to the response, Neapolitan is known for chewiness, yes. But it shouldn’t be soggy straight from the oven. A handful of the other Neapolitan style pizza shops we’ve tried in Krk...
