To start the service was very good. The staff moved quickly, especially impressive given one man was covering about 10 tables. No major concerns. The pierogis were tasty. Not the best I’ve ever had, and they were out of the meat version, but definitely tender and well filled with mushrooms, onions, and cheese. The side of potatoes was fine if under salted. However the reason for the review was the sin that was the pork knuckle. I have probably sent food back once or twice in my entire adult life, but this I had to ask to be refired . when it was brought to my plate it was clear that the skin and fat had not even begun to render and was simply a gelatinous mass sitting on top of a small hunk of pork meat. To add to that the spice blend and garlic slices were simply dropped on top with no attempted to rub them in to the skin or meat. Pork knuckle should be a crispy crackling on the outside and the fat should have rendered to essentially fry the interior meat. That meat should fall off the bone and be a pinkish hue. After I initially cut into the knuckle and noticed that the dish was entirely underdone, I called over the waiter and asked if he could send it back and broil it until the skin rendered. He noted that he would ask but that he was not a chef (fair enough). We showed him the picture of the pork knuckle in their own menu for comparison which showed how this dish should have been prepared. He took the dish back and I snacked on potatoes while I waited. About 15 minutes later he returned with the same dish that appeared to have been put into a 250 degree oven. It was completely unchanged and at this point I gave up. I picked out the meat, at as much of the unrendered fat as I could, finished our other dishes and beer and paid and left. The server was thoughtful and quick to help throughout. The food, albeit relatively inexpensive, was not worth the meal. I would not return or recommend...

When we first entered W Starej Kuchni in April of 2023 we were greeted by a rather warm and nice atmosphere and the promise of a good experience based on the reviews, only to be met by an apathetic and downright uncaring waitress - it took at least 20 minutes to do anything; order, get the bill, or even get a box. In the meantime she checked on a different couple regularly. Also, when we were ready to order, it turned out that they were missing half of the items on the menu and didn't bother to tell us, nor was anything recommended to us. Ironically the food came rather quick, the portions were large, and it tasted alright. However, when we had finished my boyfriend attempted to acquire a take-out box for his leftovers, and we had to wait 15 minutes to be coldly handed a box, a task that should take a matter of moments. At this time, he asked if we could pay, to which the waitress begrudingly said "fine", and then we had to wait yet another 20 minutes, after which time I physically stood up and looked around the restaurant only to find that all of the waitresses had disappeared somewhere and we couldn't have even asked directly for anything if we wanted. After a few more minutes of waiting we got lucky and heard the card reader machine, so I jumped up to ask if we could pay and leave, to which the waitress answered with a cold "fine".

This restaurant also seems to prefer quantity over quality; the portions are huge but the food is rather unremarkable. Definitely doesn't taste bad, but it's nothing to cry home about.

I do not recommend that anyone goes here, do not be tempted by the other...

We saw this cute place just under the door of Appartment we rent with a family for our week in Cracovia. Highly recommended by their neighbours, where we have an excellent breakfast, we decide to have a dinner here We spend a day in our touristic walks, so we arrived at the restaurant about a 19.00. It was almost empty, so we ask a table for 3 person. And the waiter, young blond lady, show us a table next to the entrance meanwhile almost all others were available. Since she was busy with a bill of other clients, we wait without sitting just for ask to change a table. And then happened something absolutely incredibile: she show with a finger the same table and she yell”SIT HERE”! I told here that I don’t like a table and she answer still with yelling : I am a waiter, so I decide where you will sit not you. I insist with a next table and she said no, even if it was empty. A ask to speak with a manager, and she told me that she is alone, and if I don’t want to have a sit to that table she decide I’m free to go out. Will you ever eat there after that? We come back in the centre, went to a Michelin advised Szara, eat good drink good and had an excellent service. What a shame to have such a poor service and so rude waiter, because food looks good. In my whole 40 year this is the first time I was treat in this way. Was the food good? I guess we...

Located a few streets northeast of Main Market Square and is more of a local restaurant, which makes it even better. The primary cuisine is Polish, which is the reason with sought this location out. Inside you will find several different dining areas, including a small upstairs area and to the rear, a garden dining area. When we stopped by for dinner, we did not have any reservations, but we were very lucky to get a table at one of the front windows. We highly recommend making reservations so you will not be disappointed. The menu is full of traditional Polish dishes, and we chose several that evening to try and enjoy. The dishes were served hot and in a timely manner by an excellent staff of servers, who made sure all your needs were met. If you look at our photos, you will see the charm and warmth of this restaurant and what makes for a perfect atmosphere. So, if you are a tourist and tired of the overpriced market square restaurants, we suggest you broaden your search and enjoy and evening of fine dining at this wonderful location.

The Polish Platter is a great introduction into the culture and transitional food found in Poland would definitely to anyone who wants to try a bit of everything. The food was really nice with atmosphere, it is a little bit on a smaller size in terms of size however the food makes it up for it. Service is nice and friendly quite swift too, baring in mind a group of about 20 people came in, the only reason is 4/5 is that they were quite a lot on their phone when it comes to serving us and we did have to wait with other party for some time before we could i.e order or get the bill which was a frustrating experience, I understand that sometimes it is a bit slower and you could be on it but that should be done in the back not in front of the restaurant in my opinion. Edit - Added pics and also free starter was offered and served!
