We was recommended to come to this Chopin concert by another tourist we met in a restaurant👍
The building for the concert is on 14 Slawkowska Street, a main street that leads onto a corner of the main Old Town square😀
Not the easiest of venues to access. It is on the top floor of this building, probably 3 or 4 stories high, with long staircases. Not good for wheelchair access or for people that struggle with climbing stairs. But if you can, its really well worth doing it👍😀
The building is quite amazing! Very old, and with the history that Krakow holds, you can only imagine.
We actually went to get our tickets early in the morning, of the day of our concert. Climbing all the old stairs, which were very impressive, well to me, as I am a Carpenter👍
We were greeted by a lovely gentleman from the top floor, talking to us, as climbed the stairs. His English was extremely good!
He was very informative about the show to me, and my partner discussed more in Polish with him. We bought our tickets and were able to choose our seats very early, so going early in the day is very good😀 So we laid our tickets right on the front seats.
On the night of concert we arrived early, we met our friendly man and was offered a complimentary glass of wine, Beer was also an option😀
As we were Sat waiting, a young man arrived and entered a private room at the front of the room. We guessed he would be the musician. The show started promptly at 7.30pm.
This young man entered onto the stage, bowed and took his seat by the piano.
That's when our minds were blown away when he started to play!😱 He was absolutely amazing! His fingers glided across the piano🎹 keys, the sound was out of this world! The drama of Chopin's music 🎶🎶was brought to life by this young man😀
He had no music sheets in front of him!!! He played all these pieces of music from memory! We were astonished😲 amazed by his pure talent!
When each piece of music finished, I wanted to stand up and clap👏👏 But no one did, whether this is the etiquette? Not to distract the musician?
Well he played for a full hour of amazing Chopin music. When finished, he got up from his seat, bowed again to us, we all clapped in appreciation for him and his fantastic show, he smiled delightfully, then left the stage.
You must make sure you pay a visit to see this Chopin concert, either being a novice of this type of music or a lover of this, you must make the effort to go😀
👏👏👏👏👏 Thank you to...
Read moreThis was a lovely hour of piano music by Chopin played by the local prize winning and internationally renowned Witold Wilczek. The concert hall is set out Salon style creating a location similar to those Chopin would have played in himself. This was therefore an intimate location, which acts as a suitable tribute to the composer in his home country. The audience was impressed by Wilczek's mixture of ballades,Mazurkas,a nocturne and his famous waltz in C sharp. The sound he drew out of the piano filled the room and his accomplished playing provided an hour of exceptional entertainment. I'm sure Chopin would have been equally impressed with the interpretation of his world and the honour afforded him in this studio dedicated to him...
