We arrived 15 min before our reservation, at 12:15. Although we later found out that Poles usually start eating at 13:00, they let us in, which was appreciated. However, we couldn't help but notice some strange looks and didn't feel welcome at all. The restaurant has about 30 tables, inside and on the patio. Upon arrival, the waiter pointed us to a certain table, on the aisle. Since we were the first and there was absolutely no one in the restaurant, we asked if it was possible to sit at another table (for 2), a little more secluded. To our surprise, the waiter answered with a resounding no. The reason? According to him, he already had all the table planning done, and changing the table for us would be chaos. The funny thing is that, by the time we finished eating...there was only one more family eating besides us! Surreal and inflexible to the max. Pierogi: Being our first meal in Poland, we were looking forward to try them. We ordered one with bacon and cheese filling, on a recommendation. We thought Pierogi were a type of dumpling, i.e. with the filling on the inside. To our surprise...the filling was on the outside, like a garnish! These Pierogi were shaped like Tortellini but without the filling, they were just a very chewy dough. Honestly, they had a similar texture to Japanese Mochis. After eating two, tired of chewing so much, I didn't want to continue eating them. The last day, before returning, we ate Pierogi at the airport. This time, with stuffing inside. Well, in our opinion, they were much tastier than the ones in this restaurant. The worst thing? The drink. Since we don't drink alcohol, we asked for a bottle of water (1L). To our surprise, they bring us a plastic jug...with tap water! And on top of that, they charged us 18 zlotys for it! A tourist trap. The first and last time we will go to...
Read moreAs it was Easter weekend, we struggled to find Polish restaurant that’s open. I called half an hour beforehand and reserved the last table. The customer service is good and the waitress is very friendly. We were given free portion of finger bread covered with black sesame seeds and wrapped pork and mushroom inside. We had the Sunday broth with 3 meats and vegetables and pasta and that was delicious. For mains, I had beef roulade which is supposed to be 12 hour slow cooked but it wasn’t as tender as expected. My husband ordered pork dumplings and they taste good. My son ordered from the kids menu and bizarrely they have dumplings with white chocolate and raspberry sauce as mains! My son had that and he couldn’t finish all probably because it’s not conventional to have a sweet dish as main! I finished his main as my desert and he then ordered the Sunday broth again as his supplementary main to finish off. It’s really weird. We saw many people coming without reservations and had to be turned away. The red cabbage is very sweet but maybe it’s...
Read moreAbsolutely blown away by the food here, i honestly cant understand why this place isn’t rated higher! To start i had the black pudding croquettes with horseradish, these were peppery but not hot, the perfect crispness to the breading and the horseradish sauce was light and creamy. then followed by the pork tomahawk with potatoes and pickled cucumber, these pork was perfectly cooked, the breaded coating was crisp on the outside and the pork tender inside, the potatoes were melt in your mouth and the pickled cucumber light and sweet. Every mouthful left me sat back in my chair, savouring every moment, i honestly dont have that feeling very often infact, this place and one other back home have given me the food experience in the 34years ive been dining. The staff were incredibly attentive, knowledgable on the plates available and above all service wasnt rushed nor was its slow. This place is an absolute MUST do, worth every step to get there and every...
