Stół i Wół — Restaurant in Lublin

Stół i Wół - or if I had to translate it The Beef Table, would be the closest for accuracy. Staffed by a young contingent that is otherwise very knowledgeable and keen to oblige and recommend. It’s a privately owned concern with this original outlet, one dealing in a much more family orientated atmosphere and a burger place that opened as a delivery point to mitigate the difficulties caused by the pandemic. In Poland I usually opt for traditional cooking but Lublin has been sadly saturated by cuisine from the four corners of the world. But saying that… I was tempted by the wonderful blend of history and the industrial look of the establishment. Big tables and comfortable benches; a cafe style exterior and a pleasant terrace foresting outside. What twisted my arm as luck would have it, Monday was 40% off steak day. They use the code scan menu system, which I am not a fan of but the staff know the menu and will happily run through your options and sort out your order without the necessity of an old fogey like me struggling with his iPhone! Ribeye it is then! Excellently prepared medium rare for the beast that I am, with mushroom sauce, new potatoes, white string beans served on a board and stone slab. I’m no beer expert but the larger was chilled and flavourful. I finished the evening with an amaretto bomb filled with pistachio and raspberry cream and a late to full stop it all. Although there was a 40% offer running on the Monday the rib eye steak still was to cost 135 zloty for the recommended size of 450 grams, so for £24 I would have expected something better than what we received. Rib eye steaks have some fat but this steak we received was 40% fat and almost half had to be left uneaten. After complaining the friendly staff asked the chef or manager who clearly refused to do a anything. We were left hungry needing to go to another place for dinner. After explaining clearly this food was not up to value expected all they offered was some "extra drinks" which we clearly did not want . I would not recommended visiting here especially on discount day unless you want to receive less than you paid for. For 200 zloty better food...

Absolutely fantastic establishment. Extremely friendly service, they also spoke very good English. Asking me exactly what my preferences were with food and drink and accommodating my requests.

The cocktails were to a high quality, well mixed, and fresh fruits as garnishes. I also ordered the BBQ Buffalo wings. They had a crispy coating, lots of sauce, and well cooked succulent chicken. Also, a fillet steak cooked medium rare, grilled vegetables and chips. The steak was dry, aged, and cooked to absolute perfection.
