Whiskey in the Jar — Restaurant in Poznan

I went to Poznan for a weekend. I was told not to go to any restaurant in the central square because these are tourist traps. However, as I have been several times to Whiskey in the Jar in Warsaw and had a good service, I put all my confidence in this restaurant, I never thought they were able to scam me. I ordered the steak that I usually order in the restaurant in Warsaw, but the waitress told me she had a much better suggestion convincing me to order another different steak, which according to her was much tastier. She convinced me. I ate that steak and had two jars. In the end when the bill came it was 235 zloty. Yes, I'm not kidding, 235 zloty. The steak was more than 100 zloty. Unbelievable. When she suggested me a different steak from my original order, I thought the suggestion would be at a similar price or if it was more expensive it wouldn't be much a difference. When she suggested me the other steak, she should have warned me of the huge price difference. But of course, the goal was to get as much money out of me as possible. I think it was a very dishonest and unprofessional attitude. If you're not Polish, I wouldn't recommend you to go to this restaurant, because of the fact that you're a foreigner they'll think you're rich and try to make you spend as much money as possible. If you go there be very careful. They don't care about you, the only thing they think is trying to extract the maximum money from you. I live in Warsaw and I've been to Whiskey in Jar in Warsaw many times and I've always been treated honestly. We visited Whiskey in the Jar on Saturday, July 20, 2019. The concept with the fun Whiskey drinks is really good and they were quite tasty. However, I saved most of my drink until the food came, causing all the ice to melt and totally destroyed the drink (explanation to follow). We ordered burgers which were OK but could probably be found better and cheaper elsewhere in Poznan. My daughter ordered chicken burger and here the chicken breast was so greasy that she couldn't eat it and had to take the meat out of the burger. The fries were a little dry and doll. But all in all it could have been a nice family dinner and a 3-star experience at the cozy square in Poznan. But it didn't! This place broke my personal record of waiting for food. It took over 1 hour and 20 minutes to serve 4 burgers, which is totally unacceptable. I can easily understand that it is extremely busy on a Saturday night in the peak season. But in my optics you should not take in more customers than you can serve. And otherwise, one should be warned that it would take more than an hour before the food will be served. The price of this meal was quite high. Fortunately, we saved a little as my normal 20% tip...

We booked a table 1 month in advanced after our experience with whiskey in the jar in Wroclaw. Walking full of expectations for our dinner on valentines evening. We get escorted to “our” table we don’t get the table that we reserved . We asked a spacious table to not be sitting packed together with other customers but this is exactly what we get .

The service first was quick but then we see that the waiting area from the kitchen to the restaurant is full with food to be delivered and the staff is having fun with each other at the register. Finally some of them start doing there job and deliver the steaks. Mine was a Thomahawk and was standing for more then 5 min on ready for delivery . So by the end I finished eating the meat was already cold . A shame the kitchen puts in so much effort to make good food and the staff ruins it .

Because we had the small table there wasn’t even place to put the board with the steak on it completely. As a result I needed to clean the juice from my board . Because it was running from it on me if I didn’t .

A shame that this whiskey in the jar doesn’t has the same standards as the others we tried . We would have went here every evening...
