Szeroka № 9 — Restaurant in Toruń

Very fresh, well-presented dishes, from appetizers to main courses and desserts. Pleasant, contemporary atmosphere. Good drink selection. An excellent value. The waiter was a pain, however, trying to push us to buy more, even after we told him as we sat that we had been eating and drinking coffee and tea and appetizers, snacks and desserts all throughout the day—we sampled so many places in the delightful rynek area of Toruń. We were polite in saying no, but he was quite rude in pushing to sell more, repeatedly—we have rarely seen this behavior in our many trips to Poland. This will negatively affect their business. Separate note: when using a credit card, always pay in the local currency—Polish złoty, in this case—because there are service charges and bad exchange rates if you purchase using your home currency....

Torun seems to have a couple of hidden culinary gems. Szeroka 9 is one of them. Located in the heart of the city in the main pedestrian street it is quite hard to miss. The menu is carefully done, few options but all of them are great. Playful combinations of local and international flavours with surprising results. The service is very professional and meets the higher standards. Waiters are knowledgeable and helpful avoiding too much interaction unless needed. Great place we happened into on our first night in Poland! We got into town late, walked in, looking quite harried about 30 minutes to closing, but the staff was fabulously nice and the food delicious! So beautifully presented and tasty, too. What a great way to begin our time here.

Edit: couldn't resist going back on our last night! Gluten free spaghetti in butter with a little kick of spice and some shrimp! Delicious. Perfectly cooked salmon. And...
