Location of the restaurant is great, interior and atmosphere is awesome, food is really good, but there are some problems: Staff is extremely arrogant, the won’t say «hello», they won’t ask you if everything was tasty, they won’t ask you if you would like a dessert and so on, they won’t even say goodbye or smile to you. «Greek fast food» menu part is only available in some hours on weekdays, it’s mentioned in a menu, but on a bottom of the page, so you won’t see it while looking on dishes list There were two guests - me and my friend, the restaurant was 60-70% empty when we came (and also almost empty when we left), but when we asked for a comfortable table in a lighter part of the room with a 4 chairs - waiter declined and said that these tables are only for 4 people. So we had to seat in a middle of a room next to another couple and people were passing by us all the time. I think a comfort of a client is much more important than the «rules», especially if it’s not a problem to give a better table because the restaurant is empty. Basically, if we had a comfortable place to seat - we would stay there longer and spend more money, but we didn’t. The food was prepared really fast, but the service is extremely slow. The waiter can stand and chat with a bartender while you are waiting for your check or for him to make an order.
Overall, the place was promising and looked suitable for a luxury and tasty lunch. But the level of service in such good place spoils the whole experience with this restaurant. Read moreThis place could be a great restaurant but the service ruined it all. The interior is very pretty, and food is quite delicious. I haven't seen such bad service for a long time. Waiting times: 40 minutes: from getting the menu till making an order 20 minutes: to get 3 starters 40 minutes: (after finishing starters) to place the main dish order 16 minutes: to get the main dish (pretty fast!)
The waitress was so irritated that we hesitated to place orders every time, including asking for water! I would NOT recommend this place only because of the service, even though the food is delish. And I hope management will pay attention to the service, as it is such a bummer the chef and owner are not recognized because few waitresses/shift management screwed the service.
(The place was roughly 80% booked on Aug 22nd; and even if it is too busy, it is better to apologize and note that the waiting time could be a bit longer, instead of ignoring customers for 40 minutes)
Edit: I asked to speak to a manager because the waitress got not only pissed at us but became rude at the time of payment. To my surprise, the manager was defending the waitress's behavior saying we did something wrong, the shift was busy and we had our starters so what else we wanted! He also said the waitress came to our table 3 times ready to take the order while it was us trying to get some attention from the waitress for about half an hour, raising our hands and waving! Read moreI can't find a single positive note in my recent experience at Meze: We ordered two classic dishes, Moussaka and fried calamari, and I was extremely disappointed. The Moussaka was completely tasteless. I expected a rich and harmonious combination of meat, eggplant, and béchamel, but what I received was a bland, flavorless, and utterly unappetizing dish. It seems the chef forgot to season the Moussaka, making it one of the worst I've ever tasted.
The fried calamari were, if possible, even worse. The coating was terrible, lacking crispiness and flavor, and the calamari themselves were soft and inconsistent. Chewing them was a nightmare, it felt like eating poorly cooked rubber.
We should all learn to protest and send back such disastrous dishes, and refuse to pay for them. If we always say everything is okay, serving terrible food will always be okay.
Too bad, because the place is very nice, very clean, welcoming. The staff is very polite and efficient. Maybe the expectations that it generates in you are therefore high but, really, once again, you can't let dishes like this come out of the kitchen.
