We got lucky getting in. The maitre d was a fine and friendly man who called us when someone else canceled. Very much appreciated! 👍🏼
Service of the staff was friendly, with a sense of professional humor and wit! English is not their first language, so it's always extra appreciated when someome is doing their best in their non-native tongue! 🙏🏼
We had the 5 courses with wine pairing and champagne for starters.
Some spoilers and positive points:
The bread and butter were home made, and especially the brioche bun was perfect! Love the sweet-salty butter, too!
Tuna and the other fish-dish were very nice! Enjoyed every bite.
We were really impressed with the broth's and different 'soups' with the dishes... loved them! Really powerful in their taste and perfectly balanced.
Their interpretation of "Peking Duck" was really nice as well! Cooked perfectly and the sauce.... really nice touch!
Also the quick, 1 cheese platter, with a bit of Italian truffle and sweet Polish honey.... very nice!
The dessert: their way of making of a Snickers ice-cream..... fun, edgy and something else! Loved it. Never had the flavor of peanut butter at a fine dining experience, and it was really nice too! 😁
Some downsides:
The wine pairing..... not the best. Predictable, and sometimes even boring or even "not well paired".
A champagne for starters that adds another 50eu before you even started........ that's harsh for a restaurant without Michelin-stars (plural) - especially when the price is not mentioned. Which I get, but it wasn't a pleasant suprise...
We believe it's important that the waiter(s) or sommelier can tell a bit more about the wine (and WHY you paired it!!!) than what is on the bottle. Also, wine is poured up to the 'curvature' of the glass... we had multiple glasses that were not filled up properply. When the bottle is done, before you correctly poured a glass..... you (unfortunately) get another one. #basics
The sweet wine vs the waygu dumplings and the spicey prawn broth (again, this was great, some of the better I have ever had!!!), just did not add up for me... I understand the idea of sweet vs. spicey, but this wasnt it for me. Drinking almost sherry like white wine, with a starter...
Also, when doing a bit of an 'edgy' sweet, dessert.... dont come in with a quite regular Tawny port! It was a lovely port, don't get us wrong! But again, it wasn't the match we were looking for... it could have been something more 'explosive' or 'out there'.
Everything adding up: 350 euro's is a lot of money. Especially for Poland, but also even for Dutch, Belgium, German, Luxembourg or even French fine-dining restaurants...
If we pay that amount, I want more than 5 courses. And definitely better wine-pairing.
Small detail: if my girl asks for the bill, and puts her cards on the table.... 'she' is paying. Don't ignore her and give...
Read moreWhat an overpriced disaster. Our experience was so mediocre we decided to write a review almost exactly 2 years later since from time to time we chat about our experience here. We chose this place for its reviews and "fine dining" as a venue for our anniversary dinner. We ordered oysters, octopus, truffle pasta, and countless gin and tonics. The grand total of our outing was around 900zl. The oysters were small compared to various other high end restaurants in Warsaw, for the price that was charged we were expecting much better quality considering they were marketed as "fin de Claire no1" the octopus was quite good but it was a starter which we asked to be made into a main meal, so the price skyrocketed and it's hard to say if it was worth over 200zl. The biggest disaster was my truffle pasta. I expected something nice and creamy with truffles and truffle oil and TASTE instead I recieved a tiny dish with DRY egg pasta onto which the waiter gave me two shavings of white truffle and when I asked if I can have a bit more he said that's 80zl extra ok then I guess I'll just have my two shavings and dry pasta. We also hated the service. The waiter was not honest with us he kept asking if we want more bread and butter and we kept obliging but he failed to tell us for each new bread basket it's an extra 50zl, we truly despise when venues pull nasty tricks like this on customers. The only saving grace was alcohol, which for the price we paid for it we could have had a hell of a time in the neighboring koszyki with much higher quality cocktails. Overall we will never understand the hype about this place. There's TONS of amazing restaurants in Warsaw with incomparably better food even within the same price bracket (you just literally get what you pay for in terms of quality, service and presentation) and we know we will not be coming here again. Two stars goes for the interior because it was nice and modern. I won't be...
Read moreAvoid this place and get a reservation at Bez Gwiazdek instead. I’ve never encountered such low class and rude service at a restaurant of this caliber in my life.
I had the tasting menu, and 4/6 dishes were good. Only two were exceptional, but it took literally 3 hours. I timed one of my dishes and it took 35 minutes to be brought out to me. Seriously.
You might excuse such extensive waits if the place was busy, but I was one of 5 tables. 5. There were 3 waiters and the host, so nearly one staff member for each table. Absolutely atrocious service.
The chef was incredibly rude, and made it clear we were not a priority given the VIP in the room. The waiters forgot about us constantly. I seriously considered walking out. Absolutely dreadful atmosphere.
If you’re local, maybe they’ll pay attention to you. I’m not unaccustomed to being treated poorly for being foreign, but to then be asked to pay $350 after being treated like a second class citizen is absolutely absurd.
Save your money. Go somewhere that actually takes pride in their customers. They even had an extensive conversation about how they felt deserving of a Michelin star with the table next to us (while ignoring our existence). I’ve been to many Michelin starred restaurants across the world, they do not deserve one. Period.
If you’re wondering why so many other reviews are positive, the food was mostly excellent. That’s true. But it’s not often you’d walk into a potentially Michelin star restaurant and worry about them maybe spiting in your food. Would never recommend this place to anyone, would rather have wasted my 3 hours of life somewhere else.
Oh, also, the real cherry on top was the fact that they had the audacity to tip themselves without asking. Not only did I pay through the nose to be rudely ignored the whole meal, but they took the liberty to reward their dismal...
