After reading so many positive reviews online, we were genuinely looking forward to dining at this restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the hype.
The ambience was decent, and the cleanliness was acceptable. However, our main concerns were with the food quality and the attitude of some staff members.
To start with, we weren’t offered the customary papadum and chutneys that are typically standard at Indian restaurants. When we asked about drink specials or recommendations, we were simply told to “look at the menu”—there was no effort made to guide or assist us.
The food itself was underwhelming. Of the five items we ordered, only two met our expectations. The flavors lacked the authentic Indian taste we were hoping for. We also found it surprising that we were charged extra for a simple side of onions and lemon wedges, which are usually complimentary in most Indian establishments.
Adding to the confusion, when I asked if the chef was Indian (to better understand the source of the flavors), one staff member confirmed he was. However, a different employee later revealed the chef was of a different nationality, which made us question the credibility of the information we were being given.
In summary, I would recommend better staff training and a stronger focus on delivering truly authentic Indian flavors. With a few improvements, this place could live up to...
Read moreThe food itself may be good. Mutton was tender which is not so easy to get in Poland; aloo kulchi was large in size; the rice portion was OK but the whole visit left me with rather mixed experience.
The problem started with the payment. When we came in and ordered nobody told us you can't pay by cards. I saw some commotion at the bar when other people had the same issue which is clear that it was not a single situation. Asking for the bill both waiters tried three terminals and I tried two cards and we got the 'rejected' message to which they said: yes, today the terminals don't work. OK if it's true then why on earth would you not tell us upfront when ordering or stick a note on the door??? Just because you knew many people would leave... But I didn't feel like going out in snow and rain to look for a cash machine. The solution miraculously was found: I could send a 'Blik' transfer to the waitress' phone number. This is clearly unprofessional if not cheeky. Another thing is the price offline vs online. Strangely enough if you order online the mutton curry which costs 40 PLN in-house is only 36 PLN when ordering through one of the platforms: ubereats, pyszne, etc... And the size is the same if not bigger in a takeaway version. In short- the customer experience is clearly bad in-house; it's a better deal to...
Read moreIt was a random selection one evening and first time visit to Mumbai Restaurant. It came out very nice and a delicious experience. We enjoyed it a lot. The staff is very polite, attentive and always comes with a smile which is an add-on to everything. Now if we talk about food here the level of authentic Indian flavours is just well balanced and managed very nicely. They customized the dishes based on my request with respect to spicy levels. My child also enjoyed the place, vibe and everything. We ordered everything from vegetarian options ( they have plenty to choose from) and everything was fresh, flavourful and aromatic. They are serving the best Lacchha Parantha in Warsaw. We were that much into food that we forgot to click any pictures and only after finishing half of the meal, we thought about it. The ambiance is also very authentic Indian and the location is very accessible. I recommend you to give it a try and it will be an enjoyable and worthwhile...
