The Mexican. Restauracja — Restaurant in Warsaw

I had high hopes coming to this place - it looks very nice outside and the menu has some promising dishes with a wide selection of cocktails for decent prices.

It turns out this all is but a mere dream, and while nice outside - inside the place is dark and lacks atmosphere.

The cocktails we had "Margarita's" made with VODKA (?) + Tequila were very watery/strong but lacked any taste of a classic one. The cherry top of this (or final straw in this case) was the sugar-crusted top!?!? How can you butcher a cocktail so much I have no clue but it's in the Top 3 worst ones I've had.

Moving to the food, it is acceptable but lacks anything special - tastes more like a fastfood than restaurant dining. I ordered jalapeños for a starter - these were really nice, had a good kick to them and were the best food from what I tried. The burrito however was below average, it was just chunks of meat in a tortilla and the toppings on top didn't cover the lack of fresh veg or salsa inside. It was served with some salad which tasted as good or original as ones from your local.

There are many better places to eat, wouldn't...

To be clear I wanted to give this place 4/5 stars, but will explain myself for the poor rating below (especially as I hardly ever give ratings that low

My grandma and I went there today between 12/13 and got margaritas and a chimichanga.

The waiter was quite nice. (5/5) The margaritas were pretty good. A little on the sweet side, but good. (4/5) The chimichanga was ok (3/5)

The thing that happened was far from ok. When we were finishing our food someone started cleaning the floor in the restaurant with bleach or some other chlorine based detergent. The smell was so strong that I started coughing and my grandma's eyes started watering. We wanted to order a few other things but basically had to ask for the check and leave quickly. I get mopping up the floor when a restaurant is open (spills happen and that's normal), but seriously using strong smelling detergents while people are eating?

upon entry, we saw a disgruntled couple arguing over cocktails with a waitress and then leaving. we thought "ah, picky customers".

we also saw a group of women who all ordered "non-mexican" food off of the menu (fries and steak i believe) and thought "silly people".

then we ordered our food and were sorely proven to be the silly ones. perhaps i'm being an ignorant westerner but as far as i know guacamole isn't "supplemented" with mushed green peas (it didn't taste like guacamole at this point). my fish was completely burnt to the hot plate and dry as a result, my partner ordered a chicken-based stirfry which was woefully undercooked.

possibly, this was a singular bad evening for their kitchen but clearly the customers before us also had issues. we weren't offered another dish by the wait staff but very much were made to pay.
