If I'll tell you that in 25 mile radius around where I live I had every Indian / Pakistani based takeaway I would not be exaggerating. And u know many will say to you - have one, have them all.
Well not any more you will not! And having Tom Yum from such place is something that was surprising to see but boy did I enjoy it!
Shall we start with the soup then? The best... And i mean the best Tom Yum I had was in Halifax, in town market. There's that little hidden gem run by few Thai ladies inside what looks like shipping containers combine. And this was heaven. And this soup brought me back to that time. It's well spiced. OK, maybe just maybe there wasn't enough coconut milk to balance lemon grass and galangal and ginger. But who said it always has to be? Also I wouldn't cut chicken in strips but that's me. That's it!
And then was jalfrezi with chicken. It's OK. And it's not polite - ok - when you think how disgusting it was. It's OK. Would I change anything? Nope! Well mixed spices and chicken had time to absorb marinate.
But the star of the show... Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... Fudging naan bread. Let me rephrase it. NAAN BREAD!
Butter naan and garlic naan. Living where I live naan is made bit differently. It's usually rolled into one naan from piece of pastry. Here it was either two or more combined into one or baking process is different. What you end up is nice rolled naan, bit chewy? And you definitely need to rip it and dip it and use your fingers to eat. Ok, since I love garlic (I couldn't be vampire that's for sure) I didn't find enough of it on my garlic naan. But I only realised that once I was full and I had song in my head - yummy yummy yummy I've got love in my tummy. And butter naan? No fluffiness just again well made naan. Soft, maybe slightly more difficult to rip but once it's in mouth... Yes please more!
I would love to move to Wroclaw. And as close to this restaurant as possible! So I could have food from them every day, on every occasion at any time!
Take it from me. Snob whom loves food and can find simplest dishes the best and most spectacular. Order, dine and for God sake use your fingers. No forks, knifes and what not. If anything... Use chirirenge styled spoons if you having Tom Yum or Tom Kha. You'll thank me later!
Oh and restaurant? Keep the delivery boy! Best one ever! Possibly better than best known... Philip J. Fry. Too bad I couldn't tip...
Read moreGreat Nepalese restaurant in Wroclaw We just happened to walk past this restaurant we were heading back toward the main square intending to have a curry there, how lucky we were to find this place.
A friendly welcome when we walked in was a nice start, the decor is basic but no problem with that, after all it's the food that matters.
They have a selection of Indian beers, all the usual dishes on the menu plus a few not so common dishes. The majority of dishes are Nepalese, which in my opinion is the best Indian cuisine, and usually my 'go to' when hunting for a great curry. But there is also a selection of Indo-Chinese dishes to be tried on future visits.
We chose Chicken Kadhai, and a Mix Vegetable with Paneer in a curry sauce, both were presented beautifully and the flavour and heat were perfect. It's unusual in Poland to get a good degree of heat without specifically asking for it, the hot dishes are clearly marked on the menu, and if it shows a chilli or 2 rest assured you are going to get a good kick without having to make a special request.
The service was excellent from, what turned out to be, the owner, he is very knowledgeable about the food (he's from Nepal), both his Polish and English are fantastic also.
To summarise, This restaurant is a little out of the Old Town area but in a great location on Wyspa Piasek with a view of Most Tumski and St John the Baptist Cathedral, great food, good value and a friendly place, as an added bonus the view from the windows is a bit...
Read moreDisappointed with the flavor of Methi Paneer. It tasted a little flat-missing that restaurant style kick of flavor…this was hand down the worst curry I’ve ever had in my life. Absolutely terrible— no flavor, no proper masala, just a bland, disappointing mess. Honestly, it was a disaster on a plate. That said, I will give credit where it’s due— the naan and rice were perfectly cooked. Soft, fresh, and just right in texture. Now about staff, one lady (Ridhima) from the staff has the worst attitude—she was misbehaving-speaking rudely for no reason—even when I wasn’t talking to her and the same way with almost every customer. Later, she apologized and said it was because she had too many customers and too much work—but that’s no excuse for misbehaving with people. If stress is affecting how you treat customers, then it’s time to rethink how things are managed. Apology or not, the damage was already done. If she hates dealing with people this much, maybe hospitality isn’t the right filed. It’s important to treat every customer with respect and professionalism. Good customer service is what keeps people coming back, and sadly, this was lacking. I hope the restaurant focuses more on training staff to handle stress better and treat customers with the respect they deserve. So girl, change your attitude— it’s not helping you grow, it’s only bringing you down.
Overall, my first experience was...
