It’s been 19 years since last in The Algarve so a day trip to Albuferia Old Town was necessary for a spot of reminiscing. Albuferia Old Town is a great place with plenty of character but we were naturally drawn to the coastal part of Town and in particular where The Oceano restaurant is located.
19 years ago we had evening dinner at The Oceana so it felt good to return as our memories of this place were always very good.
Perfectly located on a small beach front promenade, this restaurant has a prime spot overlooking the wonderful beach area and endless views of the sea. The Oceana has a great street level terrace but also, a very nice upstairs area for inside dining.
We had a great time going back to this restaurant and can only report a first class experience. Genuinely, the staff are excellent, easy going, friendly and attentive. The Oceana has an excellent menu and the quality of food, drinks and service are superb.
Starters, mains, sangria and a fantastic Irish coffee rounded off our time at The Oceana and, was money and time very well spent.
There are so many places to choose from in Albuferia Old Town however, this really is a time, tried and tested place to go.
Give it a go, you will not be disappointed. If you are disappointed it’s probably because of you and not The Oceana as personally, we think it’s a great easy going place with simplicity and quality...
Read moreWe visited for dinner last evening and we are thoroughly disappointed.
Our order was wrong on three occasions! First, a ‘sex on the beach’ became a ‘pina colada’. Next, my partner’s tuna steak fisherman style came out without the fisherman topping just a simple tuna steak. The waiter took our dishes back to keep warm whilst adding the topping so we waited another five mins. Then when we got the plates back, my vegetarian lasagne wasn’t even vegetarian (full of tuna instead!) this was just silly because we had triple checked with the waiter that we were ordering a vegetarian dish.
The icing on the cake was the poor attitude of the waiter, as he continued to serve us for the rest of the night, acting like nothing was wrong. We got no apology from him regarding his three mistakes! However, the manager was very apologetic and gave us a free cocktail each.
When it came to the bill, we’d been charged for chips. We were not expecting this because when ordering, the tuna came with an offer of ‘chips or boiled potatos’ (potatoes was ordered) and then ‘chips or potatoes’ with the lasagne too (chips was ordered). It was not obvious that the lasagne didn’t automatically come with one of these options and we’d have to pay extra!
Overall, the food was average at best.

Starters was garlic fociaccia and one with mozzarella, with mozzarella simply fab . Others had the spaghetti bologense and the fab steak and shrimp kebab. Its a definitely return here for more great food . Lovely view as the sun sets to boot . Easy going lay back and watch the world go by. Yer steak is cooked beautifully and the praws were any better looking sure I'd ask one out . 😁
Another night here and lovely food . A sirloin steak and mushroom sauce delicious Great steak. 2 x surf n turf lovely a sirloin and 1 large prawn. Suppose to be medium but just over done a tad . The sirloin and mushroom sauce was a better cut of meat and cooked perfectly. We had the cover for 3 but the waiter said cover for two would be enough and he was right . To finish we all had irish coffees again lovely. And finally to those very thoughtful people whole got up and had a quick cigarette away from the restaurant I thank you on behalf of the none smokers . The 2 groups were English and Irish. Unfortunately the Dutch...
