We were extremely disappointed with the service we received last night.
I ordered a sirloin steak and asked the server more than once to confirm that it was indeed sirloin ā which he assured me it was. I began eating, only to be approached later by a different server who informed me that I was actually eating my friendās missing meal. She was still waiting for a ribeye, but apparently, I had been served a fillet by mistake.
When I asked if I could just keep the fillet (which I was halfway through and only ā¬3 more expensive than what I ordered), I was told Iād have to pay the higher price. The way it was handled made it feel like I was being accused of trying to get away with something ā as if Iād ordered a ā¬30 steak and was trying to dodge the bill.
On principle, I said I was only willing to pay for what I ordered. The serverās response? āThen Iāll have to take it away.ā I was shocked. So I told him to go ahead and take it ā assuming theyād at least bring out the correct meal quickly. But after another 10 minutes with no food and no update, I told them not to bother. At that point, two out of five people at the table still hadnāt received any food, while the other two had already finished their meals.
We checked the menu ā the price difference was only ā¬3. Yet rather than just letting me keep the meal they served in error, they took away a half-eaten plate of food and admitted it would be thrown in the bin. No apology, no goodwill gesture, just a robotic āSorry, itās the rules.ā I honestly donāt know what kind of rule in hospitality justifies that.
To make matters worse, one friendās lasagna was 45 minutes late, arriving long after everyone elseās meals had come (or, in some cases, hadnāt). The pacing was chaotic, and the handling of the situation was even worse.
In the end, I cancelled my meal completely. The entire experience was frustrating, poorly managed, and honestly quite disrespectful. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant ā but itās how those mistakes are handled that really shows the level of service. Based on this experience, I wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I have a choice, I wouldn't have even given 1 star. Terrible place, very rude staff, and extremely average food. No one advised us, that credit cards are not accepted. (Not acceptable after post covid times). I have spotted a sign on one of the side walls, not easily visible to everyone, after we already ordered our food. When we asked whether it is possible to pay by cards, staff said no, and pointed us to ATM machine, which by the way, was charging 3.85 EUR for a single withdrawal. No apologies or nothing of course. Our shared starter, was not big enough to share, and why would you prepare 3 of each sharer if you have a starter for 2 people? The main food arrived cold, very small portion. (I literally had 3 slices of carrot, one broccoli flower and small 3 potatoes with my fish). We were short 1 set of cutleries after the starter, we have asked twice, and no one could bring it. I have taken a spare set form the empty table next to us. The waiter told me off for doing so, as it was apparently reserved. Our food was already cold at the table, we could not eat as cutlery was missing, and he told me off for grabbing the spare set from empty table next to us :). We have ordered mixed grilled fish, it was not that bad if I am honest, it was cold, but not bad, however one of the sardines was not cleaned properly so you could not eat it, it was black inside. My friend made a comment about the service at the end and the staff just started arguing with us, they could not take the criticism. I would not recommend that place. Portugal is beautiful, and there are plenty of places where you could eat nice, fresh food, and have a good laugh with local people, but Tasca D' Alkhaz it is not one of them. It is very commercial, they only care about numbers not the service level and their guests....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a treat. Weāve eaten in 5 different restaurants in albufeira. Itās January so not busy at all. This was our last night and we were heading for a meal after reviewing the sidewalk menu displayed outside. After 5 nights we had eaten many styles of food and 3 out of 4 of us were looking for a hamburger and fries. In we went to a very accommodating staff who turned the heat up and kept the door to the outside patio closed as it was a cool evening. 2 out of 4 of us had cheeseburgers which were just like we were used to back home in Canada. Served with steak cut fries and a salad it was a very good meal. The other two meals were both served with French fries and consisted of a lasagna meal and a nice grilled chicken breast meal, both that will fill the average person. Prices are excellent compared to the other restaurants and made it easy to not decline the dessert menu. What a treat that was. For less than 5 Euros each we received very large servings consisting of banana splits, Carmel ice cream cups and the largest tiramisu Iāve seen served. Over all, good service, good value, good food. Bonus for us is we met another couple in the restaurant who reside very close to where we live in Canada. We had a good chat and exchanged contacts. This restaurant is...
