Restaurante O Barbas — Restaurant in Almada

Worst experience ever. We ordered a starter and a main dish, starter came after an hour of waiting, it was just a salad. The restaurant was full yes, but they had plenty of servers. Every Other restaurant in the area had just as many guest, but none of the same problems. After the starter we waited 20 more minutes for the main dish. When the main dish arrived we were left at the table with no plates. He said he was going to get some for us. 15 more minutes goes by, he comes back just to tell us it was the wrong dish, so he picks it up and leaves. We tell him that were paying for the salad and leaving but he insists that we stay and that our dish is Coming. We agree and he goes on to bring our plates. Comes back with the plates, then he feels like the table is is wobely and SHOVES it to the side and spilling our drinks all over us and the table it self. 2 stars only because they had the decency to let us leave without paying...

I am surprised that I haven't written about O'Barbas before: I know and admire the place for over a decade. It's an exceptional seafront restaurant with a menu that doesn't change - because it doesn't need to. All food (mostly seafood, but meats as well) is very-very good, but highlights for us are their cataplanas and their grilled octopus. The waiters are all quite old, certainly over 50+ and they, along with the chef, have been there forever - it's the lifetime business and it shows in their attitude: they are not there to 'serve you' but more to help and guide you.
