I am surprised that I haven't written about O'Barbas before: I know and admire the place for over a decade. It's an exceptional seafront restaurant with a menu that doesn't change - because it doesn't need to. All food (mostly seafood, but meats as well) is very-very good, but highlights for us are their cataplanas and their grilled octopus. The waiters are all quite old, certainly over 50+ and they, along with the chef, have been there forever - it's the lifetime business and it shows in their attitude: they are not there to 'serve you' but more to help and guide you. In the busy summertime they have two restaurants along the promenade, but out of season it's just one. Don't miss it, if and when you get to be in Costa Caparica - it's quite unique

Visitamos el restaurante O Barbas en Caparica y nuestra experiencia fue muy negativa. Al pagar, nos dijeron de forma muy borde que solo aceptaban efectivo o tarjetas portuguesas (Multibanco). Es cierto que hay un cartel pequeño en la entrada con las tarjetas tachadas, pero no resulta visible y no se informa en la carta ni al tomar nota. Lo más sorprendente fue que nos mandaron expresamente a un cajero automático que está dentro de otro bar de la misma empresa, donde nos cobraron una comisión de 4,95 € por retirar efectivo. Esto genera la sospecha de que puedan estar aprovechándose de los turistas que no conocen la situación. Para rematar, al salir del restaurante cerraron los baños, a pesar de que seguíamos siendo clientes, obligándonos a ir a otro establecimiento. La comida estuvo bien, pero este trato y las prácticas poco transparentes arruinaron por completo la visita. No volveremos y no recomiendo este sitio a nadie que espere un mínimo de respeto y profesionalidad.

On a tres bien mangé ! Le service un ptit peu long ...mais attendez ...il y a du monde c'est normal c'est l'été...c'est les vacances ! Les plats sont copieux bien assaisonné. Côté prix pour les Français...se sont plus ou moins les prix pratiqués en France bien que là vous avez vraiment des portions plus que correctes et gustativement c'est vraiment du poisson frais. Il y a d'autres spécialités a decouvrir. Le personnel est courtois. Et si vous restez poli et respectueux ils le resteront aussi (je fais allusion a certains mauvais commentaires qui peuvent etre injustes) la fréquentation de gens peu respectueux et pensant se retrouver dans un pays conquis se permettent tout et n'importe quoi. C'est un bel endroit j'y ai mangé 2 fois. Partout ou vous allez respectez le personnel et il vous respectera. Bonne continuation a toute l'équipe. Merci a clara A bientôt

Worst experience ever. We ordered a starter and a main dish, starter came after an hour of waiting, it was just a salad. The restaurant was full yes, but they had plenty of servers. Every Other restaurant in the area had just as many guest, but none of the same problems. After the starter we waited 20 more minutes for the main dish. When the main dish arrived we were left at the table with no plates. He said he was going to get some for us. 15 more minutes goes by, he comes back just to tell us it was the wrong dish, so he picks it up and leaves. We tell him that were paying for the salad and leaving but he insists that we stay and that our dish is Coming. We agree and he goes on to bring our plates. Comes back with the plates, then he feels like the table is is wobely and SHOVES it to the side and spilling our drinks all over us and the table it self. 2 stars only because they had the decency to let us leave without paying...

Awful experience, Sunday morning (11:00am)we went there after surfing, the place had only one table with costumers, what made us think the service would be fast. Our order couldn't be easier, ham and cheese toast, after €10 and 28 minutes we got our tosta mista which was cold in the middle. After waiting so long we didn't wen back to warm it up. I...
