I truly don’t understand why others mentioned that the prices here are well. This place has by far the worst price ratio we‘ve seen in any restaurant in Portugal (in 6 weeks). I paid 33€ for a small portion of leitao (see my picture). I just saw some reviews which claimed they paid 10-15€ for the exact same dish and drinks on top (visible on their pictures). So, it seems that based on where you are from they charge you very different prices. On top of all the food was cold and consisted mostly of bones. In summary, complete wrip off / huge tourist trap for below average food quality.
Update as I received an answer. I am not confusing anything. I know and like Leitão rips and know the prices at both, touristic and less touristic places. Like already written 40€ is way too much for one person. I know the difference between these rips and the sandwich…:) If you look at the review for example from Antonio Sa (if you scroll further you’ll find even better examples), you‘ll see he had to pay significantly less.
Last but not least: no I did not order for that quantity. In fact I ordered a sandwich and was told they don’t have any but they could serve me rips instead. At least I would have expected to get informed that this was 30€...
Read moreFirst day in the area and I was looking for a place with local cuisine. Being it was between lunch and dinner. most places were closed, only had cafe and pastries or served non-traditional meals. When I came upon this place, it didn’t take long to realize they had more options than what was on the menu.
After speaking with a gentleman behind the counter, I was able to order local cuisine, such as boiled cod with chickpeas and an egg, a traditional Christmas time meal. Don’t let the “boiled” part scare you, it’s really good, especially with a drizzling of olive oil.
Although the menu did not specify, they do have a full bar and I was able to get a well-made gin and tonic.
For dessert he recommended AMARELINHO (BOLACHA, OVOS, CANELA), which paired well with my cappuccino.
Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the place. By the time I was done I was satisfied and very happy with my...
Read moreWe stop at the outside to read the menu and the waitress said hi with a smile but, she didn't put pressure on us. We went in because we notice that the 3 tables where people was eating were local and because we saw the sandwiches and our mouth became watery. The look and the smell of them were really good.
The lady who served us was really nice and friendly. She helped us to accommodate the kids (went with our 3.7 y and our 17months boys) and she recommended us some food. She couldn't be more right about everything. The piglet sandwich was delicious, the mini pernil sandwich and 1/2 portion of bacalhao for the kids were amazing, nothing left. The desserts were really good and the price was surprising. Really good food for a really good price. It wasn't expensive at all. Paid less than 10€/p.p wine and beers...
